Water pump line pressure

Hi Everyone, Have a 2006 Sightseer 34A, when we are dry camping and I turn on the water pump it goes for few seconds to pressurized the line but it keeps doing it every 3 to 5 minutes... Is this normal...??
Just worrying if there is a leak in the system or it is normal...??

Sounds like a leak.....Check that your outside shower is off.

This sure comes up often. Likely could be a leak, check everywhere, look for water drip. If nothing found it may be weak check valve/pump. Let us know what you find so to help others here.

Water pump is an 'on-demand' pump meaning when ON it only runs when there is a demand (drop in line pressure low enough to start pump)

Running for a few seconds every 3-5 minutes indicates a LEAK

Leak...
Could be 'city water' inlet dripping (check valve not closing)
Could be 'showers' dripping (turned off via button on handle vs hot/cold knobs)
Could be 'toilet' dripping into bowl (water valve leaking thru---level would increase in bowl IF bowl seal holds)
Could be 'pump internal check valve (diaphragm leaking allowing water to backflow into fresh water tank-----if on city water fresh water tank level increases)
Could be 'T&P Relief Valve' weeping (relief valve on water heater drips due to loss of air pocket)
Could be a small drip at faucets
Could be a small leak at any of the numerous connections/fittings/crimps on water lines Hot/Cold

Small leaks are tough to find....but you have one
Take strips of news paper or TP and lay it around/wrap it around suspected fittings/connections etc AFTER visually checking those items which you can easily SEE if leaking.

Scavenger Hunt!!

Seems like you have to be losing pressure somewhere. Mine was doing that and I eventually found a cracked fitting (plastic) on the line coming out of my hot water storage tank. Actually glad I found it too because the tank is built into an enclosed cabinet in the rear wardrobe. It was dripping and wetting the subfloor of the wardrobe which I didn't detect because of the carpeted floor of the wardrobe. Before I found the leak, I thought maybe the pump pressure switch. That wasn't my issue but now I have a spare pump in the rig. Never know. Good luck

If the water pump is 2006 original, my guess is the internal check valve(s) is leaking due to calcium build up. Most of the pumps used by Winnie can be opened up and the valve assy and pump assy can be soaked in CLR or vinegar to dissolve the calcium. I've done several over the decades of rv'ing. Even if the pump has been replaced years ago it probably still has calcium build up, especially if you live in an area with hard water.

Good luck,
Bill
