Water leak

I replaced the hot water check valve on the tank and when I attach the supply line it leaks at the fitting. Does the pvc fitting need a washer or o-ring?

Did you wrap the threads with Teflon plumbers tape?

The supply line needs a rubber washer.
The white hose is the supply line I'm guessing....

Welcome to the forum.

What kind of valve do you have? Is it plastic or brass? Is it leaking from the valve or from the fitting? Would love to help you but I need a bit more information.

If it is PVC, yes, it needs teflon tape on the threads.

Why would water come out of the potable gravity fill when hooked up to city water fill?

Because you are filling the water tank. Move the lever to the other position.
