Water Heater Not Working

I have an Atwood 10 gallon gas/elec. water heater. Until recently it has be working just fine. It has suddenly stopped working on both gas and electric. When in campgrounds we generally use electric, sometimes gas to heat the water more quickly.

I have checked all of the wiring connections and they all seem to be tight. The small fuse on the circuit board is good. The switches inside have power and are working.

I am thinking it may be a bad circuit board as both gas and electric have failed at the same time. I am open to any suggestions anyone may have.

Have you used your multimeter the verify power to the hot water tank? I'd be inclined to check across the element at the back. No help really, but it may rule out the element. I have the same tank and don't use the gas side. Have you checked the pilot light or tried to reignight it? Let us know the root cause when you figure it out.

Turns out it was a bad circuit board. All fixed now and working properly.

Thanks for the follow up Tom. I like to store these events in my head when I can.

Glad your problem is resolved, and wanted to remark that you're one of the few people around who didn't call it a "hot" water heater!

We have a 2018 Winnebago Vista with gas only water heater that failed after about 40 hours of use. Ending up replacing the mother board with an equivalent one from Dinosaur. Much better board that remedied our problem. Hope this helps.
