Tracking down a water leak and lessons learned
On our recent trip to Monterey, I noticed some water at the baseboard on the other side of the shower.
This alarmed me of course and I started opening up access ports to check for water, even taking the shower faucet out.
Because it was dark and out of my sight line, I used my camera to take photos in places I could not see. Worked pretty good! However, all it told me was the shower looked great with no leaks.
Well, I followed the water path around the bathroom to the sink, after removing a shelf and magazine rack so I could track the water.
It turned out the connections to the sink had loosened a bit and was leaking a little water onto the floor. It may have been that way forever, but we recently retired and are between homes and have spent 3 whole weeks in the RV. Enough time, however, for capillary action to move the water to where I could see it. I’m glad I noticed and fixed it, and I checked all the other faucet connections too!
Moral of the story: I could have checked the water faucets easily without all the detective work I did. That’s where I should have started and saved a few hours work. :-)
