It this case this is a good thing.
At this point I suggest that you call the factory. With your SN they can tell you exactly where the check valve is and the part #. When I did a web search on the topic there are many other RV forums that have found this to be the problem.
Keep us posted. Thank.

The parts list for your model Atwood water heater does not show the one-way valve as part of the heater. This back-flow prevention valve is a common plumbing part available from about all RV parts and plumbing supply stores. Here is the Atwood water heater service manual, which may be helpful in case of other problems.

Good news. You should consider putting another one in. There is a chance now for the hot water to back feed into the cold. Hot water out of the cold faucet is not only a surprise but you could get burned.
Threads don't "end". They just go to sleep.

Awesome, glad you figured it out and thanks for coming back and keeping us informed. A lot of people often have the same issue and seeing how others fixed it is a big help to them.

On many the check valves (Winnebago uses two - one on the input and one on the output) are screwed right into the back of the water heater. On mine they look like brass nipples.
You might want to check with Winnebago customer service. They have been very helpful when I contacted them over the years.
