Leak on City Water Inlet Fitting

On my 2016 Vista LX 30T I have a small leak (cups a day) on the city water connection fitting. Drops appear between the flange and mounting service. It appears to be a low pressure leak when I am not hooked up to city water - which never happens. I am not certain on the configuration of this plumbing and would appreciate any suggestions on how to stop the leak.

Try buying a 90 degree brass hose elbow. Brass fittings have sharper threads and mate better with plastic fittings. The 90 degree coupling also relieves stress on the plastic fitting. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Camco-90-...uwRRoCQBzw_wcB

EDIT. Also available from Amazon and many others.

There's a check valve built into the city water connection fitting. The OEM versions are usually cheap plastic and frequently leak after a few years. You can replace the entire fitting or add a new brass check valve just inside of the connection.

I replaced one on the fresh water tank fill fitting and the new unit also leaked. Added a brass valve and problem solved. Make sure you use a spring type and not a flapper gate type of check valve. You can get easy to install SharkBite check valves or ones with pipe threads.

You stated it only happens when not hooked up to city water? If the water pump is/has been on, then the water system is under pump pressure and depending on how your rig is plumbed this pressure could be forcing small amounts of water out of the city connection as you report.

I've added four or five new check valves to prevent/fix several problems in the MH which I have never seen in our Excel 5th.

rarebear.nn would you happen to know what size Sharkbite valve would be required. I see a 1/2x1/2 on Amazon that several commenters say they used on RVs.

Most RVs use 1/2" PEX pipe. The standard 1/2" SharkBite fittings will work well with standard 1/2" PEX. Most of the SharkBite product packages list PEX as one of the suitable pipes.

All you need is a way to make a clean cut in the PEX. Order a PEX pipe cutter and make life simple. Some other methods will deform the shape of the PEX and render it difficult to make good connections.

It is likely you may need to replace the fitting behind the manifold but I'd first try to look and see if it's just loose and can be tightened. The way the water is leaking it might not be the inlet assembly with the check valve inside but just the fitting on the pex in back. You might however want to take this opportunity to replace the whole inlet deal anyway as long as you're at it. Plenty of those out there...I just had a hard time finding one that matched the hole pattern for the screws. I had to make new holes but the new one has been in for about 5 years and no trouble since.

Thanks to all for your suggestions. It turned out that the check valve was leaking. I replaced the plastic city water fixture with check valve with one that had a brass housing. I am not sure how long the check valve will last, but it looks sturdier. Whereas the configuration was identical, it was easy for someone with limited plumbing skills to install. I was going to post a photo, but can't bring the image up. Whereas it just said attachment I deleted it.
