67 TBS = 33.5 oz per my converter program.

Missed the teaspoon part. That would be 33.5 tsp or 5.58 oz for 67 gallons. Does that sound right?

Now, you're just trying to confuse me. Is my converter right or not?

1 Tablespoon per gallon will sanitize in about 2-5 mins.
I thought you were saying 1 tbs per gallon of tank capacity.

On both Dutch Stars we've had the pump can either siphon from a bucket of bottle (useful for winter anti-freeze) or direct from a pressure line into the tank. Just change a couple valves and I can put water or bleach water or anti-freeze into the tank or directly into the house system.

If it's a super dirty or alge filled tank I would use that much. Or, if you need to sanitize utensils, or kill mold..

Dunner, just to be safe, stick with the beer 😊....throughout the ages, people have used beer (or wine, grog, etc) instead of water when needed...just don't drink and drive!

I also have to fill the water hose with Clorox to get it in the tank. I also add Calgon to the water hose. Be sure to drain all the water you can out of the hose first or it will just overflow all over you first (ask me how I know this). I do not drink the water from the tank so it doesn't matter how much bleach I add. I mainly use it for toilet flushes on the road and sink use before I get the water hooked up. I usually add bleach and Calgon about every other time I fill the tank. I do not fill it completely because I don't want to carry the weight of a full tank.

My tank is clean. Two trips and it hasn't made me sick.

My doctor says I can only have one beer a day. I had to quit when I got to year 4020.

My wife and daughter, bless their hearts, decided to lend a hand, gettin' our motorhome ready for our last trip. I'd mentioned that I needed to disinfect the fresh water tank, so while I was out running errands, they "helped" me out.

When I got home, I was informed they'd add the bleach in order to "disinfect" the tank and all I had to do was top it off.

Within 30 seconds, my eyes started burning and my nose was runnin', so I asked, "How much did you guys use...?" "Two gallons" they cheerfully replied, in unison.

I dumped the wat... ahem, watery bleach... and rinsed the tank at least 3 times. I still can't get the smell and taste of chlorine outta my nose and mouth (lol)!

Needless to say, I have got the CLEANEST fresh water tank, west of the Mississippi River... maybe even the Delaware River... just don't drink out of it for the next two years!

Thank God for bottled water!

It was mildly amusing, everyone in our group was asking where I'd found a pool to swim in... after takin' a shower, I smelled like I'd just jumped out of a pool.

Ya, its amazing just how little bleach you actually need. Even for washing, that '1 cup per load' the bleach makers say to use is, well, 'a load' of it. 1/4 cup will whiten and a small 'splash' will get the musty smell outta damp towel.. Using the full cup of bleach only makes your socks rip while trying to put them on

I bought some black shorts that were too black. Don't remember how much I used, but they are now tan.

Out of curiosity how often do you sanitize a fresh water tank? What are the symptoms of a tank that needs to be sanitized? Does the water smell, look "bad", does the water drinker have intestinal problems or what? Is this a safety measure to prevent bad things?

When I started at AT&T in 1970, they had disaster storage areas with ration and water in 55 gallon drums that were there before I got there and long after. Granted, they were sealed containers, but a full holding tank is almost the same thing.

Forgot to add, I had a plastic canteen on my quad for well over 20 years that wasn't even full. I had no problem drinking out of it at any time.

I think there's a case to be made that it's a safety issue... especially if you don't use your RV much or if you frequently fill it from well water. I've heard twice per year as the recommended frequency but I'm sure it depends a lot on the above two points. More often than not, we're filling with chlorinated city water which I think would help.

You can get a foul smell to the water but usually it's not bad enough to make the water appear different. Yes, intestinal issues can result.

I usually try to keep some water with bleach in the tank. I don't add the bleach every time, but probably every other time. I don't let the tank get completely empty before I add more bleach. I do carry bottled water and use that for drinking but I believe that my water is good enough so I don't worry about using it when I brush my teeth.

I use the same chlorinating sanitizer as I use in my hot tub.One teaspoon per 100 gallons of water will get you 1-3 ppm of chlorinated water about the same as city treated water.I'll put two teaspoons in by water hose and go for a short ride in the coach, run all water lines hot and cold then dump and winterize.
