The secret is a little bit of paper and lots of water..Works for me..

All good advice, BUT, think your original question is not totally related. Our 2001 35U will clog below the toilet and before the tank and you cannot see the clog. Like you, we thought it strange that the tank was "full" since we had not been on the road but a day (never trust the gauges) but it sure looked like it with the water not draining out the bowl. Like you, got a stick and poked down the tube and it cleared.

So, yes, it will clog before the tank and there's no way but to poke it down.

Now all the other great advice relates re type of paper and keeping liquid in the tank.
