Upgrading OEM CD/AM/FM/Serius radio

Getting rid of the heavy, clunky double din OEM radio. Have my eye on a single din entertainment solution (that's a guote). Having difficulty finding an double din to single din installation kit -- that fits.

Any shade tree techies out there that can steer me in the right direction?

Sorry, no to your original question. The only 2 things I can think of are to roll your own with a single DIN blanking plate and maybe some sort of filler behind it, or to go with a double DIN entertainment center.

The PO of our Sunstar replaced whatever Jensen radio was there with a double DIN Pioneer unit with dang near everything on it:
7" touch screen display

CD/DVD player

AM/FM
SiriusXM
Pandora
Spotify
Bluetooth Audio and phone integration
Camera input
Aux audio input
USB audio input

Check Crutchfield. They carry a lot of that stuff.

Problem Solved!

Thanks to all. After much searching here and at IRV2, discovered that the old Magnadyne many of us have is a 1.5 din.

Owners manual did not include that valuable nugget. I had never heard of such. Don't often replace dash radios.

So, the big A sells the proper install faceplate. Magnadyne M99XXSDKIT Car Radio Mounting Kit 1.5 DIN to 1 DIN Adaptor (Black)

Arrives by 8pm tomorrow. Install planned for Thurs

Then on to the next head scratcher.

I have the same clunky piece of crap in my Winnebago View. Seldom use it. When lounging outside, I plug in a AM FM radio and listen to it. The AM portion of the radio is useless in most motorhomes

Well, I didn't get the install done Thurs as expected. The unit I ordered arrived damaged and was sent back. A blessing, as I ordered it without consulting my resident audio geek. Who delighted in telling me that the application I intended would not work without other changes that would break my beer budget.

So, with a little in-depth discussion, (don't you hate it when your kids talk to you like you're a kid?) revealing that all we REALLY wanted was hands free, I installed a 1.0 din JVC am/fm/cd/bluetooth/hands free/and more that patches into our 5.1 surround sound nicely. Even without the DVD player it is a several generation upgrade. A little lagniappe is that the JVC hands free remote mic snapped right into the dash hole left from removing the Magnadyne IR sensor. And, SWMBO loves it because the JVC is so much lighter she can bring more shoes!

Liked the JVC so much, we ordered another and installed that one in our main dinghy (1998 Ford Ranger XLT). Radios are so complex these days, hopefully, standardizing will flatten the learning curve.

NOW, on to the next head scratcher.
