Hi Coffeeman. It has been a few years since I installed the LCD TV what I remember is: Before putting the pergo in I put a strip of wood on each side from front to back since the compartment floor was not level I made the strip of wood level, also put wood strips in back corners. No pywood in bottom, back or top. Then installed the pergo.

Thanks for the responses. I've built my box and ordered a 26" Sharp Aquos thru Dell Business for $265 shipped the 32 was $50 more. I opted for the smaller set for a better fit and it still an upgrade from the RCA. I can always move to the bedroom in the future. BTW the prices at Dell are very good vs others.

I just finished our front TV replacement in our 07 Meridian I used the Vizio 32 LED
and had to mount it on the outside of the frame With LED it's about 1 1/2 thick so itlooks great.Made my own mount from small angle brackets from Lowes and a tv mount from Target it was a easy project. As far as the sound We got a blue-ray Sony DVD player and use Direct TV which is Hi Def which both use HDMI cables ,for the sound we kepy the old DVD/sourron sound and have a A/B switch so we switch from DVD to TV .I did not use the old "barrel" sound supressor because the sound comes from a source and not from the TV speakes as it came from the factory. If you have the$ you can get a blue-ray/sourrond sound combo at Best Buy for $375 and have just one componet We got a universal remote to control everything so we can contril the surrond sound unstead of 4 different remotes Hope this helps
$375

I did the upgrade to Samsung HD flat panels in our '07 38T 2 years back,
I removed the salon cabinet doors to allow a larger flat panel. She about 100# of weight in the process.

Feel free to PM me and we can chat about it.

Was you able to use a 32", and did you mount on inside of cabinet?
Thanks

Klipsch also makes a DVD/surround sound set up with a wireless sub-woofer. We installed that last year because we didn't want to mess with wires to the sub.

The front 2 speakers are hard wired into the front overhead cabinets.

As for the TV...a larger screen sure beats the OEM stuff.

Congrats.

Yes, I used a 32" model.
I removed the doors completely. Built a blacked out, 4" wide picture frame to close out the space behind the TV so that hanging cables were not visible thru the small space around it. Then I built a wood upside down "T" to mount the TV (used a metal, 2 piece flat panel TV mount from HomeDepot)

To secure the TV assembly, I used the same holes from below the TV that secured the original TV bracket. I do not have a fireplace below, just storage cabinet.

It is very securely mounted. When underway, I wedge pieces of packing foam between the TV and side walls of cabinet to minimize any jarring from road bumps.

While I had it out, I also added an extra HDMI cable in case I ever do an HD satellite receiver....

37" LCD TV Upper Cabinet Install

Just trying to load these photos I discussed earlier of my install on our 2000 Winnebago Adventurer 35U. I elected to leave the original plastic TV bezel and base in place. When you remove the metal cage, you have to re-enforce the two upper cabinets. I tied my angle iron to the side walls and the ceiling rib as shown. I could do chin-ups on this mount. The TV, being a 37" overlaps the doors on the two side cabinets, however, with the articulating arm I used, it easily moves out of the way when I need to get into a cabinet. I have since installed an LG Blueray Surround sound system into the RV and ran all the wires through the false bases in the cabinets. It's seemless and you can't see any wiring anywhere. This was a daunting task when you consider all the finishes in an RV are added after the wiring and walls were put in.

Nice professional job. I wonder if you have an opinion on turning the mount around so you you can lower the tv while watching it and raising it to store while traveling. It's so high in my MH that my neck hurts from watching it as my recliner is too close and I can't move it back without falling down the entry steps.

Thanks

Cliff

I installed it very similar manner in my RV. The idea of being able to adjust the angle of the TV was great but I did have a problem with the TV vibrating & shaking going down the highway. I attached a couple of straps to the bars and then tensioned the TV when we traveled. I took it out this week to put in a larger TV but it will be firmly attached. I was not comfortable with the four smallish bolts going into the flimsy plastic on the back of the TV. I took the back cover off and the attachment
points are simply nuts glued to the plastic back of the TV set. It might be OK but I am worried about the structural integrity of the plastic.

I replaced our front tv with a 32 inch Vizio Razor yesterday. The Razor fit perfectly in the cabinet without alterations. Like others have said, be sure your new tv has a variable audio out selection so that you can use the home theater system. This is a menu option so you can verify that the option is available using the store display model.

Hi Cliff. The mount I have only exrends 15" and tilts and swivels. I have not seen what you are looking for but I assume it would have to be something like the arm on an x-ray machine in order to do the same as well as drop. I'm about 6' away in my recliner and recline to watch the TV. Only problem with this is I usually end up falling asleep. I wish movies were only 15 minutes long cause that's about how long I last when reclined before I nod off! LOL

Thanks Les. I really don't need it to swivel, only looking to lower it while viewing. I'm going to have to do some measuring to see if it can be done.

Two years ago I replaced my 27" big ol' front RCA with a 28" Insignia (Best Buy house brand) flat screen that I had on hand. There were issues with the picture, so I replaced that one last week with a 32" Sony Bravia. I used a heavy Rocketfish swing/tilt mount from Best Buy (about $110) for the new LCD. The 32" Sony was 1/4" narrower than the distance between the two cabinet doors and fit perfectly.

Here is the original replacement thread, showing how I utilized the existing steel frame for the new mount.

http://www.irv2.com/forums/f53/lcd-t...zel-50550.html

Attached is a pic of the new installation bracket.

Two things to keep in mind when picking a TV: most 32 inchers are 720P resolution, only a few have the 1080P resolution needed to get the most out of your hi def cable or satellite or your Blue Ray. My Sony did have 1080P.

And as mentioned, if you want your surround sound's volume to work with your TV remote, you may need to utilize a TV earphone output or a RCA TV output that is controlled by the volume control. Most aren't and they assume your surround amp has it's own volume controller. The factory surround in my Winnie does not, and the Sony didn't have a earphone jack or an RCA sound output controlled by the TV remote, so I had to tap into the VCR input available on my radio, which ties into the surround amp.

I will continue to strap the TV in place when travelling. You can see the strap bracket on the frame of the cabinet in the foreground. Oh, yea, there is a reason for the foam corner protection.

Loved the Picasa Web Album. You da people! Awesome job on the remodel. I also replaced the original flooring in our National RV with wood in most areas and tile in the bath area. It's amazing how little things like a wood entry well can be so much more appealing. Great job to you both!

By the way regarding mounts. I found a fully articulating mount with a 15" travel at Sam's Club for only $38 and used that to mount the 32" Vizio Razor.
