Energy Command 30 Gen autostart - When does it shut-off

Hi there
We are camping and power went out, and the autostart worked perfectly, kicked on generator and air's kept going. Looked around park and noticed that power had come back, but we were still on generator. I checked manual and we have the AC sensor and did the test and it works.
Does it wait until there is no more request for Air conditioning plus 10 minutes before it turns generator off? That is what i think i understand from manual

Thanks
Paul & Deb

audvid1, That is my understanding, the system checks for shore power before starting the generator. It will not shut down the generator just keeps it from starting.

If the AC sensor was out in the transfer switch then it might be smart enough to turn off the generator.

Of course you don't want an electric load on the transfer switch when it operates.

You want the air conditioning to stop before it switches back.

Ironically the sense wire on your coach might be tied to a circuit breaker like the water heater or washer.

So if the power is on and the breaker is turned off, the generator might auto start thinking the power is off.

According to my manual, there is a 10 min minimum run time. If the HVAC calls for a 2nd run during this 10 min, the system will add more time to the counter.

Also. shore sense capability is optional, there is a test to determine if installed. The installation is done using a wallwart, providing VDC input to the EC30.

The only thing the manual says about the EC30 turning off the generator is that it will do that when the temp or other parameter for which the generator was turned on has been met. Nothing about if shore power returns. Ours has never had to turn on the generator, so that is something l didn't know.

I think the shore sense is not used to turn off genset. But rather not start genset when in auto mode. When in auto mode, it will not start unless there is absence of shore power.

The way shore power is sensed in the Winnebago installation, the generator will run until the demand (either air conditioning or battery level) is fulfilled or a minimum of 10 minutes. Once it shuts off, it will not restart if shore power is present.

As others have indicated, the EC-30 will sense the loss of shore power and if set to "Auto", will start the generator. You must turn the generator off manually. Winnebago uses a small transformer connected to a circuit on your power panel which the EC 30 monitors for startup but cannot turn the genset off when power is restored as that transformer is being fed by the generator when running and not shore power so it doesn't recognize that power has been restored.
