Attenuator

What is the purpose of the attenuator. The info in the book is a little vague.

I'm referring to the small button on the antenna control on the ceiling.

Normally it has no purpose for RVers but I will describe it.

IF you happen to be parked "In the shadow" of the TV towers (Or so it seems) it is possible the signal, though very strong, will not come in well, This is because the television receiver (or radio receiver if it's hooked to the outside antenna) is "Swamped" with signal, very over loaded.

That attenuator button attenuates (Reduces) the signal strength so the TV can properly process it.

Since most RV parks are NOT in Television station parking lots, You very likely will never use it.

TheLED variable sensitivity adjustment helps to fine tune the antenna position for best reception in both strong and weak signal area.

glenda1908, on the Jack Antenna the attenuator dial is used to control the sensitive of the led's showing the incoming signal strength. So when you rotate the antenna you can see the led's change even if you are close to a lot of stations.
The attenuator dial has no affect on the signal going to the TV.
From the Jack Instruction Sheet:
1. Turn on antenna power at Power Injector Wall Mount Plate.
2. Turn on SureLock Signal Meter with switch on side of rotational knob enclosure.
3. Rotate attenuator dial fully clockwise.
4. Depress button on rotational knob and rotate antenna
until maximum number of LED lights illuminate on signal meter.
5. Rotate attenuator dial counter clockwise until last illuminated LED light flickers.
6. Rotate antenna to illuminate last flickering LED light.
7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 to pinpoint signal reception.
8. Follow instructions for TV or converter box to scan for available channels
