Got to replace my AM/FM radio antenna on the roof. Anyone done this. Any advise. Also what does Winnebago use to seal around the installation. How do you get to the underside, remove the TV?

Assuming that the rubber antenna is broken off, all you need is an allen wrench to unscrew the movealble "ball" connection and replace the antenna. If it is broken somehow on the roof joint, that's another can of worms....

Funny, just responed elsewhere online about what I did to fix my Mom's. On hers the Winnebago installed antenna was sheared right off, it was impossible to just screw on another one. While I had Mom's TV out doing some other stuff, I just plugged in an antenna that was laying around from some forgotten project and laid it up in the cap (there was a connector up there). I guessed it'd work OK since it's just a thin layer of fiberglass away from being on the roof.
Someday I could remove, clean up and replace her proper roof one, but it's been working fine up there. 2 minute fix (once the TV was out - might be able to reach from the side cabinets too).

I went to a marine store and bought a white one. Removed the one screw to the swivel and didn't have to touch the base. Went with the white to eliminate some of the black streaks that comes from the black ones after they have been in the sun for a while.

I don't understand why it is impossible to install a new antenna. If the old mount is still there, it should be a matter of putting a new antenna on the mount. If the old antenna is sheared off, get a bolt extractor of the proper size and remove the remains of the stud.

Well I'm not quite that slow. Replacement screw-on mast didn't correct the problem. However by plugging in a new antenna and laying it on the dash, everything works fine. But thats just not the way it should be done. I just thought, before starting the job I would see if anyone had any past experiences. Maybe that way I coule make a difficult job a little easier. Thanks anyway for the replies.

Winnie uses something like Dicor self-leveling sealant for sealing roof intrusions. CW carries it.

Thanks John. I'll pick up some next week. While I've got the TV out. I may look into a flat screen for replacement. Maybe that will help offset my weight gain since retiring.
