RV Trip to Grants Pass for Suspension Upgrades!

Here's our trip report on a recent visit to Grants Pass for some suspension upgrades at Henderson's Lineup. I'm looking forward seeing the difference it makes on our upcoming trip to Utah.

One major thing missing from your report. The price of all the upgrades or the individual costs of the upgrades, so people reading your info will have some idea of what the upgrades cost.

We had some upgrades done in 2012 or 2013 on our former Class A on a F53 chassis. It cost a pretty penny and we didn't do all they recommended. Our bill was around $2000. Also the road & RV check out was an extra cost, even though we did buy some of the stuff they recommended. I was a little disappointed in that charge.

All the people at Henderson's were very nice to work with. There was no pressure to buy anything and I felt they did quality work.

It is just not a few hundred dollars to do these upgrades.

Al (macnut) what’s your impression of the Koni shocks and why did you double up on them?

al1florida, I felt about the same way...not cheap, but good work by good people. I also liked the no pressure sales approach. Yes, we spent a few thousand, but we’ll have the coach for a long time. If anyone wants specific prices, you can PM me. You can also call Henderson’s for costs, as they sell will sell the parts separate from install. The Road Performance Assessment was $300.

Creativepart, roads in CA are really bad. Must result from the high gas tax...they must pay people to destroy the roads. :-) Doubling the Koni’s were meant to eliminate porpoising, and was recommended by our tech. It did. However, we’d probably have a bit smoother ride with only one on each tire. I guess it’s a trade off. Our next trip is to Utah, and I’ll decide after that trip if we found the right balance and if I want to keep all eight or go back to four. Henderson’s will give me a credit if I want them removed.

Hi Al & Deb,
Great Grants Pass KOA report in there too! I especially enjoyed the animated gif picture of Jump Off Joe Creek. Adds a nice touch to the report.
Thanks; Eagle5
