Replacement Tires

Wanting to know what you have used in place of Michelin tires 235-80R /22.5 XRV? Tire store suggested Dunlap tire 245 - 75 /22.5 or a Yokohama 245-75 /22.5 both are 14 ply tires. Is anyone running these brand of tires?

Hesitant to chime in here. Tire talk gets real emotional, real quick. But its Sunday, sermon was short, brunch was not bad. So, why not.

Our coach OEM was Michelin 255/80-R22.5. PO replaced with Dunlop 255/70-R22.5 two months prior to our acquiring. In April, we replaced the Dunlops out of an abundance of caution.

We went with Cooper Roadmaster RM272's. 255/70-22.5. Our spring trip put 3500 miles on them. Literally, rain, tornados, high winds, Arkansas ' excuse for highways and finally snow. Doing well.

Chose those because we ran those on the tractor/trailers in the distribution center of my next to last civilian job. (Aggressive work history.)

Some particulars: 70s have a reduced diameter from the OEM 80s. So your odometer reads about 2.5% more miles than you've actually driven. And, your speedometer reads about 2.5% faster than you are actually driving.

Some folks say that the 80s give a bit softer ride. Don't know how to test that. But for sure, 80s normally have to be special ordered, and normally more expensive. And, for sure, 70s have significantly greater load carrying capability.

These are my opinions/observations. You'll get others.👍

just joined after buying my first winnie Vista 26P. like so many i failed to note that the tires might look beautiful with no cracks and plenty of thread. Of course they are OE and 10 years old!

So im buying 6 tires! What tire brand do you road warriors recommend?. Trying to look at different brands. Should I run 4 in rear different brand?size from the front tires? Currently Continental HSP 225/70R/ 19.5 G load. thanks to all.

You should get lots of suggestions and comments. My experience....I always stay with the original manufacturer. Mine has the 235/80R/22.5 XRV Michelin. I just ordered 2 tires for the front Friday. I used the Winnebago Club pricing that was 421 + tax, mounting and balance per tire... Full retail ran from $537 to $550 per tire depending who I called. The FMCA member price was $10 more per tie than Winnebago... You do need to be a member of the Winnebago club or the FMCA club to get the price.

I had the same OE Michelin's on my 2013 Sightseer. Replaced with TOYO's, 245/75-22.5, at a huge savings....paid $2,100 out the door for 6 tires (inc spin balance) at a local Good Year truck tire store.
Have put almost 7,000 miles on the new tires and they've been great, no issues and based on GPS, speedometer seems spot on.

Need all six!

I recently purchased a '99 Winnebago Vectra Grand Prix and all of its tires are 10+ years old (has been sitting in one location for the past 4-5 years). It was originally equipped with Michelin tires but right now it has a mix of tires, all 255/70R22.5 size.

I don't know if i'm doing something wrong - but I can't find anyone selling/mounting 22.5's. I've been looking for a few weeks and the closest dealer is some 80miles away and i'm hesitant to drive there with old tires.

Where do y'all get yours?

I bought my tires at a local commercial tire shop, i.e. one that services 18 wheeler over the road trucks. They also do RV's, but even if not, any such tire shop can handle 22.5's, that's the common large truck size.

I have a 2009 Adventurer 35A. I need to replace my Michelin 235/80R/22.5. Any alternatives to Toyo 245/75R/22.5? How about 255/70/22.5? Appreciate your comments and observations.

I have an Itasca Sunstar 35F 2014. I replaced all of the Michelin 235/80r22.5 with Sumitomo 245/75r22.5 . The 719 st series. They ride and handle great. Jack Furrier in Tucson has the service and price to please.

From my experience I do NOT recommend Michelin RV tires.

I DO believe Michelin "Steer" tires are superior an I will gladly pay the difference in price until someone comes along and double-downs on their love for Toyo's price:

* Then they have to claim their Toyo tires performed as good or better than the Michelin "Steer" tires I used to run on. (See pictures below.)

And until that happens I think all this talk about Toyo's vs. Michelins are like talking about apples vs. oranges.

What I am saying is this, based on the years of reading about Toyo vs. Michelin tires, Toyo always wins on price. However, after that the story get murky when it comes to performance and what type of Michelin they are comparing their Toyo's to.

Specifically, the Michelin Truck Steer Tire, on all 6 wheels, IMO, is far superior to the Michelin RV tire. And therefore, IMO, Michelin is making a mistake by continuing to promote the sale of their RV tire, because the Michelin RV tire is far inferior to their Michelin "Steer" Tire.

This is my testimonial: In the last 5 years I have put 60,000 miles on my Michelin "Steer" tires, and I will never buy any other type of tire with a 22.5" rim.

Note: An RV in the 22,000 lb range, that has a 19.5" rim, can ride on the Michelin RV tire, but the ride will be "soft" comparted to a Goodyear... and IMO you will like that after a while.

For us 30,000 lb+ RV owners, we need the Michelin Steer tire called the X-Line Energy Steer Tire 275x80x22.5 back in 2017.

So if anyone is out there, and has replaced their Micheline Steer tires, as described above, with Toyo tires, please tell us more about your your RV driving performance and how you compare these two tires?
