Looking for Winnebago C Class 31k Houston area

Hello Everyone,

My name is Carl, and my partner's name is Lynn and we are asking for a little help.

We live in Leeds in the United Kingdom, and for the last 2 years I have been on the hardest journey of my life with stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer, but all this is changing in the next 2 to 4 weeks. We will be starting a new journey in Houston for the first 30 days to be part of a ground breaking trial (in our opinion) and we could not think of anything better than doing this in a Winnebago Motorhome and traveling the USA Highways when we are not hospital bound.

We are looking for a Winnebago C Class with a 31k floorplan? preferably with the entertainment above the cab. We know the build quality is amazing but that is as far has it goes. We have around 20.000 USD to spend and was hoping someone out there knows off one for sale from a reputable person/dealer?

I love talking about my Journey, and how I am very proud of where I am now and where my cancer has taking me, I don't look as Cancer as disease anymore that is killing me, it is now my cure teaching me how to defeat it every day.
Love Always,
Carl and Lynn X

I do not have any leads for an RV, but wanted to wish you luck on finding one and more importantly GOOD LUCK on your treatment.

Hi Mike,

Thankyou for taking the time out to reply, I will be posting a lot of help threads over the coming months, best sites, where to avoid, and hopefully not so many "what not to do" as my journey becomes a reality.

Love and Peace,
Carl and Lynn X

If you are starting your journey in Houston, I would start by looking for RV dealers in that area. Looks like at least 5 to choose from. I am not sure how much of an RV you will be getting for $20,000.

Hopefully someone who lives in the Houston area will come on and give you some first hand knowledge.

Good luck on your journey.

This is a reputable outfit to deal with...I believe they have mostly consignment units on their lots:

https://www.pplmotorhomes.com/

You may have to broaden your search regarding a specific unit in that price range. I'm not sure how long the 31K has been around. In this price range, you may be looking at an RV that is 15 years old, which could be problematic as they typically last 20 years, and many things begin to require service as they get older.

Good luck with your plan.

Search All of Craigslist Nationwide - Onecraigs will get you USA nationwide ads for sale

You can also put in craigslist.com and Houston for local RVs, then you can change location as you wish.

Good luck with both of your journeys!

I bought my 32' Winnebago Class C from PPL in Houston. They are not exceptionally honest people, but if you know how to go through an RV and inspect it, you can find a great buy. I bought my 07 in 2015 and I figured out the water damage that was there and went in with an offer and they accepted it. It only had 38,000 miles on it and mechanically, the Ford was in great shape. I repaired the water damage over the driver area and upgraded with some solar and a residential fridge and I couldn't be happier! Just make sure you inspect everything!

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your advice.

Deep down I had that feeling after speaking with them over email and phone.

I have been introduced to Holiday world, from an old friend of my Dad's who introduced me to a RV inspector who turned out to be a old friend of my Dad's too, and both are from Leeds, my home town (Such a small world).

So I have that side of things covered now.

Happy RVing.
Kindest regards,
Carl

I suggest you check out RV Trader online, as well as the online RV forums... there are a great number of them. Just a note... I have a 2015 model 31K and the TV is above the kitchen countertop, with the DVD player below. This makes for very comfortable viewing from the opposing sofa.

Happy travels!

Carl,

You might want to look at an older Class A Sightseer 30B, I have a 2006 model and the floorplan is identical to the 31k Class C. I got mine really cheap and after having the ball joints, front shocks and all tires replaced I have about 18K n it. I also replaced the sofa and dinette set and some other small odds and ends. I guess what I am saying is be prepared for some repairs even if you spent 20K. My advice to you is to buy from an individual and try to get the complete maintenance history. I got the complete documentation for every service, repair, and warranty work from day one.

I know the Class A is a bit taller but they drive really easy.

Also, and most importantly......I wish you well!

Hi Carl,

Due to your health condition, I'm willing to offer you my 2003 Winnebago Adventurer, workhorse custom chassis for $11,990 as it requires some interior repairs due to a recent fire in the main electric panels. Will provide newly purchased Powerline energy management system (EMS) and tanks control panel board to replace the old ones.

The RV is currently being parked at a storage facility and refurbished by a qualified person in Las Vegas. With the remaining $8,000 or less from your $20,000 budget you could turn this RV into an almost brand new class A Winnebago. It has two slide outs on both sides, like new Good year tires with only 38,000 miles. It's a 33ft class A "WFG33V" Winnebago. For more info and pictures please leave your email address.

I'll even provide two night stay for two of you at Excalibure hotel and casino for FREE, so you could visit Las Vegas prior or after your treatment The repair shop will handle all the interior refurbishing without your actual onsite presence. Will provide you with contact information for needed parts from Winnebago and other resellers.

$20,000 to spend, limits you to Class C RV's in the the 2004-2008 range. I really suggest you don't limit yourself to just Winnebago.

Any Class C in that age range that passes a rigorous inspection should serve you well. The key here is that the inspection shows the RV is in good condition.

Keep in mind that that the automotive part of the RV is the same through all the brands. There are only 2 chassis mfg. Ford and the Chevy Workhorse.

Additionally the RV components are generally the same products in most of the RV's. That is the stove, fridge, water heater, windows, etc. So they are old and can break, that is not the fault of the RV make/model.

That leaves the parts the RV Mfg made. The walls, floor, roof, plumbing, elect wiring, etc. If these as well as the other common RV items pass a rigorous inspection, then the brand name doesn't matter that much.
