Slide topper minnie plus 26rbss

I want to add a slide topper and my winnie plus 26rbss seems to have a rope rail already installed above the slide. Can anyone tell me if have installed a slide topper.

My friend and have installed 3 Solera Slide Toppers on a 2101DS, 2108FBS, and a 2250DS. Easy to install, about 1 hour when you have everything ready to go. eTrailer.com has info on how to measure for one and a very good how too video. Solera is really good quality.

I watched the videos on installing and seems pretty straight forward. But I do have a couple of questions. How do you know what length of screws to use? Does the Solera kits come with this hardware? I have no idea how thick my walls are and I'm concerned that the screws would come out into the interior of the camper. Is this not a possibility?

Where I want to put the slider is on my slide that is under the curb side awning. I'm just not sure I have enough space and slope to put the attachment point on the trailer as well as if I'm going to have any issues with the awning retracting and extending and not hitting the new slider roll? Any thoughts on that?

The Solera comes with all necessary hardware including the self taping screws. You do need to buy a roll of Butyl Rubber sealing tape. We had no trouble using the self taping screws on the 3 Winnebagos where we installed the Solera slides. For the fabric anchor strip it is installed as high as possible and the self taping screws actually screw into aluminum. Contract eTrailer with your specific questions about your trailer. They have some experts who can help you. Good luck.

Still trying to figure out if I can fit a topper under my existing awning. Issue I see is that my awning when retracted or opening has about 2 inches of clearance. That means if I were to install a topper per the instructions the rolled up topper and the existing awning would hit each other. I was wondering if I couldn't perhaps install the awning brackets lower so that the rolled up topper is lower, like even with the slides lip? Then it would clear the awning I would think. I called Lippert and they said I'd void my warranty if I didn't install it according to their instructions. Hmmm..

After looking at your very good photos I really don't see how it would be possible to install a Solera topper. Look at these photos and I think you will see what I mean. There just doesn't look like enough clearance. I could be wrong but I don't think so.

Yeah, it looks that way. Unless I could lower the brackets on the slider down till the fabric was laying on the lip and the topper roll was even with the lip, then the awning "might" clear it. But wouldn't know unless I purchased it to find out.

You also need to think about if you can get the fabric anchor rail high enough to give a little slope. It is really a gamble at this point. Hopefully some one will come along who has installed a topper on a 27RBDS.

Here is another suggestion. I assume that you are not a member of the Facebook group called Winnebago Minnie Travel Trailer Owners. There are over 5,000 members and you will never find a friendlier or more helpful group. It is a closed group and you have to ask to join but I am 100% sure they will accept you. That would be a great place to get help.

If it wasn't $85 shipping I would buy it and then hold it in place and see if II could drop it down enough to work. If not I'd send it back, but that's a pricey try. Looking at my pictures I think the speaker on one end and freezer vent on the other might not allow it to drop enough to work.

The only reason I need this is because we've had a lot of trouble and damage from water intrusion during storms. If it's blowing out I close up the awning and the rain just hits the slide and if the angle of the trailer is slightly tilted to the other side the water seeps under the rubber slide seal and down the side into the cabin. It's very annoying to always have to be checking it, putting towels down and hoping it doesn't seep into the cabinetry around that area like it has before. I've already put all new seals and replaced a bunch of ruined wood trim and it still is an issue. Frustrating to say the least. Figured a topper would help out a lot, but this seems might not work out.

I really know what you are going through. It cost me $3200 to repair the floor in our 2101DS. I haven't had any problem with the 2250DS. I did install the topper about 2 weeks after we got it.

I want to put a Solera on my 2019 27BHSS. I have the topper already, but the instructions say that where the plates mount there has to be a backer to screw into. I have no idea what's behind the fiberglass in the corners of my slide. Can I simply assume that since this is where almost every manufacturer puts their slide topper brackets that there is something there sturdy enough to screw into? I'm talking about the corners just below and inside of the aluminum outside trim on the slide. Would I be better off screwing into the aluminum? Thanks.

Rick, we have installed a Solera topper on 3 different Minnies, a 2101DS, a 2108FBS, and my current 2250DS. In all case there was aluminum backing for the self tapping screws. Here are photos of the 2250DS. Be sure to use butyl rubber behind the two pieces that go on the slide and the strip mounted above he slide.

It may have a rope anchor over the slide but I doubt it. Get a step ladder and take a close look. On ours where the awning is there is an aluminum rope type anchor for the awning in combination with the drip trough. On the other side there is a plastic drip trough only. No rope anchor. Even if you had an aluminum rope anchor on the slide side you would need to slide the new topper in from all the way at one end of the trailer to it's position over the slide. That would be very awkward. Post a photo here if yours does have a rope anchor on the slide side.

I have 2019 26rbss . Yes they do have combo drip molding for topper.
I installed works great easy install. Just have to install brackets on slide.
I used 13’1” x 48” black wide Solera from e-trailer pt # LCV000168109
Fit perfect.

Trying to understand why a topper is needed on the curb-side slideout. I use the awning to cover that slide.
