Just Purchased 28SGS

Howdy,
We traded our Winnie 2401RG TT for a 2017 Voyage Lite 28SGS. We'll pick it up this Friday. Loved the TT; never a problem which is why we chose the Winnie 5er over competitive models. It will go right into winter storage following the PDI, but we couldn't resist the winter close out pricing. We belonged to a sizeable Winnie TT Facebook group. Seems there's not many 5er owners around. Nice to see another owner on board.

I was beginning to lose hope! We just got back from a cross country trip. We had planned on going to Charleston SC for a break in trip, but hurricanes got in the way. As a result we pulled out from home in Virginia and headed west. Had beautiful weather till Denver where we got 8 in of snow. In October. Sigh. But the rig handled the cold nicely. Only issue we had was the snow build up on top of the slides. Later in California we had 111 degrees at the campground. Even with a single a/c unit and no shade she handled it well.
One panic stop on the trip on I-40 in Nashville where someone had lost a washing machine in the #1 lane. That was fun.
Overall very happy with the rig (having come from an older Pace Arrow class A.) Only thing I really dislike is the "pedestal " around the bed. Be nice to step right down onto the floor. And access to the plumbing for winterizing is terrible. I cut away the barrier for access. And thee manual sucks. One would think they could do a real owners manual.
But after 7 weeks on the road and about 7500 miles of towing we are happy campers.
(Towed with a 17 F250 gasser. Truck was a champ and handled mountains nicely. Slowed up on the climb out of Denver a couple of times, but the motor and tranny handled it well. Tow/Haul mode and away....average of 9 mpg on the whole trip.)

That new F250 is some kinda nice. All except the price tag!! Seems like you had a great trip even with the unexpected washing machine ambush! Putting it away now for winter? We're already looking forward to March & April when we'll take it out for some local state park fun and checkout, then we have a summer long coast to coast journey planned for 2018, Lord willing. Nice tip on the winterizing. I'll have the PDI guy go over that on Friday. Where in Virginia? We're between San Antonio and Austin. Welcome mat is always out if you get down this way...

We are Blacksburg VA Up in the mountains. Want to get in your area for blue bonnet time, but I think our trip will be a little later.

What a great looking rig! Taking the truck in this morning to have the hitch installed.

PDI went pretty well yesterday. They'll service a couple minor issues which means we won't be able to bring it home until next Friday. Somewhat amused at the awning which is nearly useless on this particular model. Hot water heater access and high/low water drain valves, as on many RVs, require gymnastic skills. Quite pleased otherwise.

I only used the awning once. Usefulness kind of depends on the direction you are parked. A least it is easy to use. The old one on the MH was a major pain in the 8078098.

The person who designed the access to those points should be forced to use them every day. Grrrrr. And how about a decent owner manual?

The mattress also sucks. But we made a few inside tweaks, added some storage and it was quite comfy.
