Winnebago View -- gasoline engine?

I am in the market for a View or Navion 24M (quality used) and found one in Florida that has a GASOLINE ENGINE! Also has METRIC gages. Has anyone ever heard of such an animal? Was it manufactured in Europe by Winnebago?

tks

In the first year, possibly two, ('06 or so) there were a few gasoline engine units. They were about $10K less, and got about 10 mpg. If I remember correctly.

Actually, the gas engine was an option in the '08 model year. Same year the change from the 5 to 6 cylinder happened on the diesel engine. But it's correct that it only lasted a short time. It's only in the 2008 brochure.

This must be the one you've found? It's a 2013, a strange beast indeed...

Here's a snip of the Winnebago Service Part Alpha List for the motorhome that tderonne found on RVTrader. It lists option 029 "Chinese Chassis, gas". Not sure what that means, maybe it was made for shipment to China?

How did you receive this parts list? Can you get something similar from Winnebago for any motorhome? New to me....

Winnebago has all of their motorhomes online for you to access. All you need is the serial number of the unit. Here you go:

go to: Winnebago.com
select: Resources
select: Product Information
Select: year and model
Select: Parts Catalog-motorized
Select: "Service Parts List" (in red on the left)
Select: year and enter the last five digits of the serial number (not the vin)

Bingo-every nut and bolt that went into the unit is listed, as well as all options.

Also, once you have the Service Part Alpha List, you can call Winnebago service and ask them about the "Chinese chassis". The instrument panel gauges could probably be switched out for ones that display mph, miles, degrees F, etc.

They will be selling a gas powered view later this year. It will not have the same towing capabilities and I'm sure the mpg will be around 10.

Diesel seems the way to go.
