View - Rear Camera Sound
I may be off base here but ... I seem to recall when we were deciding on purchasing our 2018 VIEW last year, reading about how when backing up, the driver could hear the "spotter's" directions using the rear camera through the sound system. I know the spotter can't hear me, (good thing !!) but thought the camera had a built in microphone. We don't have any sound and the dealer is saying that never was something the VIEW had.
I've been mistaken many times before but if it's something the unit should have - please advise.
Thanks,

Not sure about your rig. My 2016 VG with Xcite system has the microphone. When in reverse an icon appears to turn on/off the sound.

I was under the impression it was part of the 9" Infotainment optional in dash system, which we didn't want. C$2600 for a larger screen and a built in Rand McNally GPS system didn't seem worth it to us.
I also thought it included a way to adjust the camera view left and right or up and down.

We do have the upgraded 9" Infotainment system and paid the extra $ for it when we purchased the unit. I'm unsure about the ability to adjust the camera and not sure if I'd use it, but we definitely don't have the sound option which is what I really would like. We're back at the dealer in April before the 1 year warranty period expires to get a few minor things looked at and if this is something we should have, I'd really like to get it addressed..

I would suggest that you send an email to Winnebago support, with your unit's WGO id number/VIN number and ask them. They are the only reliable source for this sort of info, as they will have the unit's build info, and whether or not it was equipped with the options you're concerned about.

Took your advise and called the tech service line and yes - we're suppose to have sound when backing up. Will run through a few tests and setups suggested and if that doesn't work, I'll have the rear camera replaced.
I'll post again if it's a simple setup I've missed.

No worries, glad you got an answer.
I use their email "contact us"
[email protected]
all the time to ask specific questions about our Navion.
I've always received excellent answers from them.
Always include your WGO/VIN id numbers if you email. Makes it easier/faster to get a reply.
btw, our basic radio/camera is a pita to figure out and use.

why would you want to add confusing sound to what you see in the view camera. I get the biggest kick watching folks back up there rigs with the wife/husband shouting directions at them and still do it wrong :-)

Best way to get sound is to pay $400 and buy Eartec UL2S UltraLITE Wireless communication system. A lot cheaper than marital therapy or a divorce lawyer....
