Satellite TV Hook up Question Re: Minnie Winnie 31K MH

I am out for the first trip with the MH a sort of shakedown and am getting used to the systems and finding some issues. Regarding the TV, I was under what seems to be a mistaken impression that I could use my satellite in the MH simply by attaching the coax from my satellite dish to the MH then connect the incoming MH feed to my Directv receiver and that feed to the TV and bingo - satellite TV ....nope., didn't work. So I called Winnebago and was told that I would need to remove the cover plate next to the entry door, the plate which has the button for the booster; there would be a coax connecter with "red Tape" on it and I would need to connect that coax to the Sat receiver. I uppled the plate out and it does have the coax cable with red tape. I didn't follow thru with the process as I just decided to hook the sat to a second tv I use outside. But I now question if I would need to reverse that process in order to be able to utilize cable from the RV park. That will be a question for Winnebago when I return home. I am wondering if anyone has experience with this and is there another way to accomplish this without running coax through the kitchen window.

I would appreciate any info or advice you may have.

Here is what I did,
Purchased this

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Eagle-Asp...lexer/24808633

1.Connect the coax with the red tape to the in/out port of the diplexor.
2.Put a coax jumper from the TV port of the diplexor to where the coax with red tape was connected to your antennae booster.
3.Connect another jumper to your satellite receiver.

Your receiver sends power to your satellite dish. The satellite port of the diplexor lets that happen. A simple coax splitter does not. This set up lets you use the same input on the side of your motorhome for either satellite or cable.

From what I have read if you connect a jumper to the in/out of a second diplexor to your motorhome input and your satellite dish to the sat input and campground cable to the tv input you can use both through your motorhome coax run. You would have to select the correct input on your tv.

I hope this makes sense to you. It has worked for me so far.

Thanks Motts, makes perfect sense.....I have ordered the diplexer....my task will be finding the space for the diplexer to live behind the cabinet wall since mine is on the outside wall of the lower kitchen cabinet.

Motts, it all made sense until I got started on it today. Now I wonder if I am on the same page with you.

Bear with me here.....what I am trying to do is to be able to plug into the coax connection on the side of the MH with EITHER the park cable or my satellite and get a signal. Obviously I would have to tell the TV what input I was using. I thought thats where we were going until I reread your last paragraph .....which seems to indicate the need for TWO diplexors to accomplish that .......So I am not certain now what the setup discussed in your first paragraphs does. Sorry to be so dense.

No you have it. If you want to do either all you need is one diplexer on the inside. Connect it as I explained and you are all set. If you want to use campground cable connect it outside and choose the coax input on your tv's. Also you can still use the antennae by choosing it. To use your satellite receiver plug the cable from your dish to the outside input and connect the output on your receiver and you are set. The diplexer lets you use the same coax line to the inside of your camper.

The only reason you would need a second diplexer is to use BOTH campground cable and satellite at the same time. Here is a link to someone else explanation.

I have used both the single and double diplexer set up and they both worked for me. Hopefully this helps you out.

tmas, perhaps I am missing something in your explanation. Isn't there an HDMI input on your tv?

tmas, check out this post for a little more detail. The HDMI splitter is in this cupboard. You can unplug your DVD player from the HDMI splitter input and plug your satelite receiver into it to watch satellite on bedroom TV or TV above your dinette.

I moved my splitter outside of this cupboard to the storage area above exterior door and mounted my receiver in this area. I can change from DVD to satelite viewing this way.

Thanks. I will need to explore it a little. Any recs on how to run a HDMI to the outside TV from this splitter? Would like to have the Dish receiver inside and running to all TVs.

Thanks again!

I drilled a hole in the side of metal cabinet for outside tv and under the jack knife couch. I ran a hdmi cord from outside tv through holes and plug it into my satellite reciever when I want to watch outside tv. My receiver is mounted above exterior door.
