Lost vent cover - where to get one?

We have a '17 View. There is a Trusty power vent over the galley, right behind the ac unit. The external cover for the power vent blew off in our travels, and I am not having any luck finding the part on Winnebago's site or the amazon winnebago store.

The inside of the vent is approx. 8" square. The outside is round and stands about 1 inch above the roof, with a single threaded rod coming through the center.

Has anyone else had this problem or know where to get a new outside cover for this vent fan?

Tks.

I hate to say it, but have you tried Camping World?

Also, Camco makes some vent covers that might work for you.
Lastly, who manufactures the "Trusty" vent? Asked them?

Failing that, send a note to

[email protected]
and ask them where to get one.

Include your VIN and/or WGO serial number so they can help you.

Tried CW. They wanted to sell me a refrigerator vent cover that is massive.
Did the research on Trusty-Inc. They have 3 employees - appears to be an importer.
I'll try my dealer when we get back home and see if they can get something out of winnebago.

Failing that, the best option I can come up with is a smaller vent cover from Camco.

In the meantime it is saran wrap and electrical tape to keep the rain out.

Dang, that's too bad.

Wonder if there's a DIY option?

I don't think the galley fan is particularly high output.

I'd almost be inclined to try to build or make something that would do the job.

Good luck with it, and post up your solution in case others lose their fan/vent caps.

Have you tried calling Winnebago Parts Direct # in Forest City Iowa at 641-585-6395 ?

Have your RV Serial # ready, or they might be able to find you by looking you up by your name if you are registered.

Lost vent - designed solution

Thank you to those that offered contact information.

I finally heard back from Winnebago. They told me that this vent does not have a cover, it is one piece, and the solution is to replace the entire vent for $113 (plus tax and shipping). Also, the part is not in stock.

So keeping in mind someone elses' description of an RV owner as someone with tools always at the ready, I resolved the issue by creating my own vent cap. Here is what I did:

1) The single bolt that holds on the 'nonexistent' cover is 5/16-18. It can be accessed by removing the vent fan from the inside.

2) Bought a tablet sized drybox in the sporting goods department at walmart, and sawed the top off of the box. The top was large enough to span the external portion of the vent fixture and overlap sufficiently to prevent rain incursion.

3) Bought longer bolts and locknuts of the same thread. (2 inches and 1-1/8 inches) I went with socket cap screws so that I could slip an allen wrench under the cover for the second bolt.

4) Drilled the cover for the center bolt and a second bolt to prevent the cover from spinning in the breeze. The second bolt only goes through the vent top and the plastic lid.

5) Installed positioning bolt in the front, then the longer bolt through the fan from below. I added a nut as a spacer to each of the bolts, then put the new plastic cover on the studs, added stainless fender washers and bolted it all down. (With the spacer nut, there is an air gap between the top of the vent fixture and the bottom of the lid.)

6) Put inside cover back on, turned on fan and determined that it does indeed suck a napkin up against the fan grill. Success! Total cost less than $20.

Here are pictures from the roof of the finished job. Sorry the 2nd one is upside down, but it does show the roof, bottom line of the new cover, and the vent fixture. All the black goop was Winnebago's contribution to the vent installation.

I know this is an old thread, but I had the same issues and thought that this will help anyone else who runs into this problem.

The mushroom vent outside cover is not available by itself but the entire assembly can be ordered off of Amazon for about $10.00 or so. They are available in white or black. I only used the cap myself and put a drop of blue locktite on the threads of the bolt before I screwed in on.

I've attached a couple of photos to show the assembly. It is a completely separate item from the powered fan mounted below it.
