Something just doesn't seem right, ethical, legal about that. Between my career and having a Daughter who is a Attorney that worked for a State Supreme Court and now a Prosecutor, I think that exorbitant fee would be refunded.
I would start with a phone call to Winnebago, followed by a registered letter requesting a refund for services that were not rendered.Seems about ten minutes in a Small Claims Court would take care of that.
I would also file a complaint with BBB and the Iowa State Attorney General along with the A.G. of your home state.
Of course this would all be best done after the factory warranty was over (like the day after)
I would also consider doing this even if bought from Lichtsinn's. Over $1,400.00 delivery fee for less than a mile is exorbitant. I would go against Winn of course, Lichtsinn's is stuck in the middle as just a dealer who has to abide by Winns. policy's.

I would think you can easily get 30% off of the list price. I did after going to the Hershey RV show and seeing that the Views were being marked down 27% as the "show price". I ordered mine. I made the offer and got the price I wanted at my dealership after they hemmed and hawed briefly (I traded, so I gave them the price I would accept on my trade as well). I would think Stoltzfus would be able to make that deal if you stayed firm on the offer.

If you look at left-over previous year views, I've seen them marked down as much as 34%. Timing is everything.

35% would be a first offer and hold hard on it. 32% would be very realistic. If it's a "last year model" sitting new on the lot I would go 45% on the first and wouldn't go any less than 40% It has already depreciated that much at least.

Lichstinn is still showing the MSRP as the starting point, less a cash down payment or trade and net loan amount and payment. I have no idea why they advertise this way...maybe some buyers bite and pay MSRP. I tried in good faith to work with them and had better results at Bullyan RV in Duluth MN. This was just my experience. Lichstinn had a good video on TV options, so I shot them a good faith contact via their website to find out if they could help me, no response. I'm sure many folks are quite happy with Lichstinn.

Apparently it comes up with “RV One” as the name, and one can only choose pickup at Albany or Buffalo NY.

Not sure where you are located. We bought our new 2017 Navion From La Mesa in Sanford Florida in April 2017. They publish their rock bottom price in bold print on the windshield. Called Lichtsinn and asked if they could meet La Mesa price. They could not come within $7k and said they did not know how La Mesa could sell so low. We were very happy with the La Mesa experience and loved the no BS pricing. Lichtsinn does have great videos online.

Lichtsinn

I just picked my 2020 View J last Friday and Stacy Anderson was my sales rep and she was great. I researched long and hard. My local RV dealer wouldn't talk price on a 2020 back in August. They said they are getting some in November come back then so I took a 7 hour drive just to look first hand at 2020.

I told them I found a great deal from a dealer in Illinois and they came real close to that price. I could have bought any of the ones they had on hand but I had them customize exactly what I wanted. I added a couple of items and they discounted the percentage of my deal off.

The 4 hour walkthrough was the best for although my two brothers have RVs I'm really unfamiliar other than the groups I've joined.

One note is that Winnebago are rolling off the line MB chassis That don't have all the bells wissels that I wanted and discounting them a bit over 8K. No lane assist, adaptive cruse control, brake assist, heated seats, voice commands, shifter on the column, auto wipers, auto lights or 3 programable seat adjustments.

So basically it's a 2019 chassis. It might me hard to find a 2020 chassis. When I went to look I was told they were doing this in Dec and sure enough but not sure how long it will last.

My local dealer called me a couple weeks ago to say their 202s came in and I went to look and it was one of these 2019 chassis and 2020 Winnebago.

the lesser optioned chassis is the Limited Edition at almost $9K less. It has the smaller 8" MBUX radio, no fog lights, regular cruise control, and fewer safety features. I ran across this during my research and some dealers advertised it as a way to get into a View with considerable savings.

On the sticker it will be listed under options as the "2BE chassis exchange package" with an $8700 discount.

In looking at their site I think they show their pricing the way they do because they can only get a percentage of the vehicle value written as a loan. (bankers always want plenty of room to sell off a vehicle in case of default). MSRP is just that... a place to start.

There is a lot wiggle room on pricing an RV that is on the lot. We paid 92K plus tax for a brand new 2018 Winnebago View with a sticker of 141K. This was back in August of 2017. I thought we got a good deal. Maybe we just lucky.

The fixed delivery charge is a strategy to equalize competition as has been indicated and is likely agreed to by each and every dealer in their franchise agreements. If it were as simple as you think, others would have done it years ago. There are many elements involved in the delivery of a coach so the charge is not mileage based.

On forum postings I see that a lot of people are very pleased with Lichtsinn, and I have spoken with some people locally who say the same thing, but I have never really thought that the extra service, nice as it would be, is worth the higher cost to buy. Yes, they do seem to do what they can to please their customers but from what I have seen their prices are very, very high.

I live in southern Arizona and here LaMesaRV is one of the larger places that is an authorized Winnebago dealer. From my experience (I bought 2 RVs from them) they are a typical dealer in that they are not the most accommodating place for buyers, but they have a lot of RVs on their lots and they sell with a reasonably heavy discount. I priced the same RV at both LaMesaRV and Lichtsinn and found that LaMesaRV was far less expensive for the same RV, and by "far less expensive" I am talking about the difference between full list price at Lichtsinn and a 25% or more discount at LaMesaRV.

It is nice to have a dealer who is completely accommodating and knows the RV inside and out, but that extra service comes at what seems like a high price as well as the requirement that the buyer travel all the way to Iowa. Or am I missing something here?

We ordered our 2020 View 24D in Sept and I was able to get 30% off. If you look at other dealers, you’ll see the older, unsold ones can go for up to 37% off.

I assume there’s plenty of room to negotiate. You just have to not want it so bad you’ll pay closer to MSRP. the dealers have been selling for longer than most of us have been buying....

Knowing that the older ones were discounted even further, I figured a firm offer of 30% off would be reasonable - and it was accepted after a little hemming snd hawing.

I bought my last rig there as well. They have great service as well. I drive 2 hours to go there, but the local dealer isn’t near as responsive or good at serving.

The dealers around here offer decent discounts and I am sure that if you make a reasonable offer they would come around. They don't want to get stuck with an RV that they can't move.

It is Lichtsinn's pricing that I can't understand. When viewing their website some time ago all I saw were list prices for then-current Winnebago Fuses, which were what we were interested in. They were asking $122,000+ for the same Fuse that was available here, without bargaining, for about $82,000 so I just did not understand why people continued to speak so highly of them.

We have our Fuse, bought here, so this question is really just out of curiosity nd in case we decided to buy a newer RV in the next couple of years.

MSRP is a suggestion. If you don’t ask for/offer a better price, you won’t get it.

The good thing about Lichtzen is they have very comprehensive pictures of the rigs, both inside and out. If you’re going to buy there, you should bargain for a better price and be prepared to walk because you know you can get it cheaper elsewhere.

Keep in mind, the prices shown on the Lichtsinn web page are simply MSRP. NOBODY actually pays that! Lichtsinn would have gone out of business long ago if they were selling for MSRP. Many dealer websites just show MSRP, none really sell for that price.

Have to disagree. The transporters are paid by mile. Typically the longer the haul less per mile actually. $1.20 per mile for a 800 mile run is way more profitable than $1.45 for a 300 mile run.
Before going L.E. I drove semi's for 20 years both long haul and expedited LTL. If it was a true flat rate why would they ever deliver 800 miles away when there are 300 mile runs that paid the same?
It's pure B.S. that any dealer within a couple of miles from the plant who undoubtedly pickup their own coaches gets charged a transportation and delivery fee of $1400 plus dollars and charges their customers that. That are clearly excessive, unreasonable charges.
Entegra/Jayco only charges $795 from the plant to Motor Home Specialists in Ft Worth Texas.
Other RV companies don't charge a flat rate delivery fee which gets passed along to the consumer.
