2006 View Slide Tie Down

Hi All,

Purchased a used 2006 View H and love it. The tie down strap was missing from the slide. I was able to order the replacement along with the plates. The top plate is already there but I am not sure where the strap ties down to. The last owner laid a floor over the original. I attached a photo and you can see the original bracket in the slide but no corresponding bracket to hook it to. Is it possible there is something under the new floor in front of the rug?

Any photos or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Pam

For what it's worth, most owners, don't use them and, in all the posts I've read on the subject, I don't ever recall anyone having a problem. Here's an example:

Never used the slid tie down in my 2006 Meridian. Never had a problem.

I just checked my 2002 Suncruiser 35U. The strap is essentially at a 45 degree angle. In my case, the bracket on the slide is 10" high and the floor bracket is 9" away from the slide (measured to bracket centers). I'm not sure why there's an inch difference, it could be just sloppy installation work. If you match your floor measurement to the slide bracket measurement you'll be right at 45 degrees, but make sure your straps are long enough.

I can't imagine that the strap is going to do much since it wouldn't take too much force to rip the brackets out, which would probably happen before the strap broke.

Smile Slide Strap Connections for Winnebago VIEW

I had a 2007 Winnebago View on top of a 2006 Mercedes Sprinter chassis - so I imagine things are pretty much the same as your 2006. I always use the strap after noticing, once, that without it, the slide is under some stress making right turns (very slight outward flex was noticed) and the strap basically eliminates that. I don't think its critical that a strap be there, but... better safe than sorry I suppose. My strap connects about 10" up on the slide and about 8-9" along the floor (roughly a 75-90 degree angle). The floor connector is screwed into the floor on top of the original shag rug that I have. Good luck.

Your 10" x 9" measurement is the same as on my 35U, however I think you're a little off on your angles. 10" x 9" is going to roughly 48 degrees up from the floor. This makes sense since 9" x 9" would be 45 degrees up from the floor. 10" x 8" would be a little over 51 degrees up from the floor.

Thanks everyone for all the help. Really appreciate that everyone takes the time to respond. Just completed a drive up and down the east coast, ran like a charm. Aside from some rather rough winds going through the smokey mts, all was great and it is a dream to drive. Only complaint is that the 2006 doesn't have an adjustable steering wheel.
