Winnebago Travato - tow vehicle

We recently purchased a 2019 Winnebago Travato 59K. Absolutely love all the features and the compact space!

If we were to tow a vehicle with it occasionally, what are Travato owners towing?
If so, are you flat towing or dolly towing the vehicle?

We know we need to have something under 3500 lbs., and have been looking at a Honda HR-C or a Honda CR-V.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Toad for Travato

You will likely need a toad much lighter than 3,500 lb::
GCWR = 11,500 lb.
GVWR = 9,350 lb.
empty weigh approx. 7,500 lb.
The maximum allowable weight of the toad is the GCWR of 11,500 lb minus the loaded weight of the Travato. We carry 1,500 to 1,600 lb. For us the maximum weight of the toad would be GCWR minus the loaded weight of the Travato:11,500 lb. - (7,500 lb. + 1,600 lb.) = 2,400 lb. You may travel lighter and be able to get near to a 2,700 or 2,800 lb toad. Keep in mind that you have to add the weight of the towing equipment to the total weight being towed. I believe all Honda HR-V's come with a CVT transmission, which makes them unsuitable for towing. A Honda Fit (2,450 lb. to 2,550 lb. is a much or reasonable toad for a Travato than is a Honda CR-V. if you travel extremely light (<1,000lb. total occupant and cargo), you might be able to tow a Subaru Impreza, some of which weigh < 3,000 lb.)

Looking for a light TOAD!

Perhaps a stick shift miata. Better yet how about a motorcycle. There are adventure/dualsport bikes that are less than 450 pounds (ca. 204 kg) wet. Be a great way to explore the road less traveled! If not interested in that there are some three wheel types (double front etc) which on an aluminum trailer would fit the bill. Remember over 1K towed is best braked ! Do not forget the breakaway mechanism for the TOAD

Why tow anything?

Why in the world would you need to tow anything? The Travato is small enough to drive any where!

Mclemens... perhaps you didn't notice but the thread is nearly 2-years old. It's been a year and a half since the OP even revisited winnieowners.

Using Search is great and worth doing, but notice the dates on the threads that are turned up as results so you don't end up posting on very old threads.
