Winnebago Brave 26A - Bed Leg Retrofit

Returned today from CW where they installed (under warranty) the retrofit of the leg for the convertible bed. The original design had one leg which folded out and was fragile. The retrofit folds out and has much greater support. I am posting photos of the retrofit so that any current Brave owners who got the earlier version on their coach can potentially contact WBGO about the retrofit. Took about 90 mins to install.

Ohh that's GREAT!! I'm definitely going to hit my dealer up for this. I'm pushing nearly 300lbs and that little leg is just waiting to fail!

The dealer will need to call Winnebago to get a warranty authorization. Winnebago obviously figured out that the little leg with 4 short screws was not the way to go, since they were installing the "new" leg on all coaches built after February of this year.

Good hunting!

The dealer ordered the retrofit kit for my new Brave. In looking at the photos, it appears your bed cusions are thicker. Just the photo or did you thicken somehow.

Liking most everything on this Brave. Beds are about my biggest complaint, but certainly love the room up front. Don't even miss the slideout!

Thanks for your posts.

The cushions are the same size on the retrofitted unit. We did purchase a 2 inch memory foam which we use on top of the cushions. It does help with the lumps/valleys between the cushions. We leave the bed down most of the time, but it's easy to roll up if need be.

Thank you. I've done something similar on the non-folding half of the bed.

Enjoy your Brave. And be prepared for all the compliments from fellow campers on the great job you did refurbishing an old Winnebago.

Richard, just a reminder that there is a Facebook group of Brave owners if you are on FB. Here's the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/735629463187747/

Good afternoon Jim, I stopped by my dealer today and amazingly, they and their Winnebago rep are not exactly sure what they are ordering. What did you get with this retrofit? A complete new bed with new cushions? Or a leg which was attached to your original bed? If by chance you have the part number, I'd appreciate if you could share it.

Shouldn't be that hard. The only reason I am pursuing quickly as I am leaving the area for 3 months beginning late September.

Thanks.

BTW: I do get many comments on what a good job I did in restoring. Not me!

Richard: Here is what was on my service order:

Part #'s

19203401FAE Panel ASM-Rear Bed Top 15 A - Series
19203402FAE Panel ASM Rear Bed Top 15 A Series
18858603FAE Panel Rear Bed Top 15 A26A

They do not put a leg on. It's a panel that folds down and is much sturdier.

If you need me to I will take pictures of the panel in the down and up position. Let me know.

The 3 parts are the 2 panels and the little piece that swings out to lock it in place
