Water Leak from Window Cornice Left Corner, 2008 Journey 39Z

Rain storm over and time to turn in, only to find the left side of bed, headboard and cornice over window water soaked (both fabric/foam.) There was a slow drip of water from left bottom edge of window cornice. No leaking or water in overhead cabinets or ceiling. Shade is not wet. Window is part of slide and covered by awning which was out. Water was being absorbed from left to right, across cornice and headboard. Coach is level on concrete pad. This is not an exit window. Appreciate any suggestions what I can check before it goes in shop that does not require removing shade or cornice? Hoping it doesn't rain today! I took photos will try to upload.

Hi - we own a 2008 Journey 39Z as well. The leak could be anywhere and simply found its way in to the cabin over the cornice. I'd go up top and have a really good look at any/all penetrations along that side.

For the 2nd photo; that is not part of the slide, but it holds the mechanism for locking the slide. When you press the lock/unlock the slide switch, the arms that secure the slide move in or out of the box that you see.

It is possible that the leak is around the slide lock boxes as well.

Leaks are almost as bad as electrical problems; generally an easy fix but chasing down the problem can be a real head-scratcher.

Best of luck....

Thanks so much, did go on roof as you suggested and those seams running down either side had several areas of deteriorated/cracked sealing. Sprayed clear Flexseal down both sides, it's raining and there is no leak. Will have shop scrape off old material and seal proper. Would be interested in hearing other repair items yours has needed. The outlet in our galley is not working after previous repair and a few interior reading lights on same side of coach not working. The new inverter flipped switch today while multiple appliances running. Otherwise, we've really enjoy the coach, get compliments on it all the time.

You should have a weep hole on the outside of the slide at the black cover. CLEAN it with a pipe cleaner, and every other one you have. Not all slides have this lock. Keep that little bug attracter cleaned. The lock pan will fill with water and spill into the coach, as is your case.

Yes, second that on the weep hole maintenance. Some water finds its way under slideout toppers, wind slope, etc. And the lowest point is those sumps that hold the locking mechanisms. But if you keep the weep holes clean, no problems.

I have used pipe cleaners, and canned air, both seem to work well. A good reminder, I need to check them, last time was a couple years ago.
