Bobpie,
I bought one of those valve replacements and hose .. You see them on the net in various places. I bought one taking a chance it would no work. It did, the valve screwed into the tank and I used t he fittings and hose from the kit along with a Couple extra from Home Depot. I then ran copulas amounts of water while adjusting. I still owe it one more adjustment.
It is the easiest project I have done one the MH. I spent about 2 hours total including the run to Home Depot an dumping the water mid adjustment.
I will get pictures and a valve number for you. Scalding and then freezing is no longer
