Vista 36y

Hello,
In our quest for that perfect to us motorhome, we looked at the vista 30t . We loved the layout but the shower was a bit small for us. The Winnebago dealer in Rockford Illinois also had the vista 36y and we fell in love with it! The dealer was great let us take if for a ride and answered all our questions even considering we won't be buying till next year. Anyway does anyone have the vista 36y? What are your likes and dislikes? And has anyone bought an rv from the Winnebago dealer in Rockford Illinois so far we were very impressed!

Thanks to all for your help , Steve W.

We purchased our 36Y in Feb. Have had it out about 8 times including a 3 week trip to Fla and back. We are enjoying it so far. No real problems a few warranty things we had worked out by the dealer but they did everything we asked. I think for the price point this coach is a great value. Here are a few of the thing we did that you may want to consider if you get one. Easy Fixes were.

A locking Gas cap
Exterior Window shades.
Extension Valves and a TPMS system.

We chose the extra storage space rather than the Washer and dryer.
We also went with the King bed (a must for us) but it would be a bit easier to walk around with the queen.

The HDTV Tv's and reception are fantastic with the King power system.

Our's came with the loft bed but not needed for us.
Would rather have a theater seating with recliners but is not an option. Would rather have automatic windshield blinds rather than curtains but it would need to be done aftermarket.

THINGS WE DON'T LIKE

Slides are not as deep as other coaches wish they extended out a bit further.

Can't get to the microwave and stove and a bunch of cabinets when slides are in but by placing cup etc where you can get to you can work around that issue. 19 ft awning get's hung up on slide and sticks sometime when opening it and will not tilt down at all.

With that said we looked for months and for us at this price point it checks most our boxes and we are very happy with our purchase.

Hope you do your research and if you choose this model I think you will like it.

GOOD LUCK

I have purchased twice from them. Excellent service and straight forward sales.

Thanks for your input! Yes we were very impressed how we were treated. We have been to a couple dealers that once they found out we weren't buying until next year they wouldn't give us the time of day. This place spent a couple hours with us .

We have a 36Y(2015) and are getting ready for our first trip. We are impressed with the overall quality.

The things that bug us are:

reflection on the dashboard(added a strip of lights on dash, problem solved)
no glove compartment(added file holders on each side, problem solved)
reflection on backup camera, not resolved, tried anti-glare film, no help, just poor placement
cubbie beneath computer desk should be big enough to hold a computer
no place to put a printer(took cabinet shelf out, put in sliders, problem solved)
removed sofa, put in recliners(would like as an option)
propane line for barbecue is low pressure, barbecue will not work, can't modify barbecue, still need to carry tank
no outside electric outlets(why? trailers have them)
no need for 3 tvs, 1 if fine
ridiculous trash can in kitchen, maybe the concept is good but size of trash can isn't
lack of counter space for Keurig and toaster oven
deeper kitchen cabinets(only 6" deep, prefer 12), willing to give up some big cabinet space for this
filling gas tank, nozzle doesn't go all the way in, spritzes gas(working on a resolution, poor design we think)
curtains around cab, we will be adding shades

Things we love:

residential refrig, no more melted ice cream(freezer is currently at -1)
accessibility of bathroom, refrigerator when slides in(part of our basic requirements)
comfort when driving
bunk bed(plan on lowering it a little to use as a storage area when parked for a while)
1 bathroom, prefer storage to multiple baths
seems like plenty of storage, both inside and out
overall quality so far
AC seems great, thermopane windows help a lot
filling gas tank, nozzle doesn't go all the way in, spritzes gas(working on a resolution, poor design we think)
TV goes into console, not overwhelming coach

We travel for 4-6 months a year(fall-winter) so our needs may be different than yours. Overall we are very happy with our choice. Every trailer/motor home has minor problems and poor design.

Did you actually take sofa out and put in recliners? Can you send pictures if you did. That's the #1 change we want to make and it would be great to see what/how you did it. Thanks Dave

Yes we did and the best thing was we sold the sofa the next day to someone who was refurbishing their MH.

The recliners didn't go as smooth as we thought. We had to place them on 2x4s since they were deeper than the slide. Wall hugger doesn't quite mean agains the wall. Then we had to bold the 2x4s to the slide. Also had to take off the side valences(no big deal, a few screws). All in all we are happy we did it.

I'll try to post some pictures later today.

Your slides look a lot deeper than ours so we had to be a little inventive.

Yea that's exactly why I want to see the pictures to see how you got them to work. There's plenty of width but the slide is not very deep.

I didn't see your last note until after I posted the pics. If you want I can take a pic with the chair open.

There is quite a bit of storage behind the chairs. We keep the catalytic heater and a plastic file box behind the one recliner and the "table". Behind the other we have a baggie with the winter misc. gloves, hats, scarfs, coats etc.

We bought 2x4s, determined what length we needed them so the chairs would work, bolted them to the chairs then bolted the 2x4s to the floor. Took several trips to get the correct length bolts but we are much happier with the recliners than the sofa. Also gave us space for the end table with a file drawer for papers etc.

We have been thinking about theater seating or a reclining sofa but seems like it would be hard to get them inside and placed on the slide platform. Got every measurement written down to start the search. Was it hard to remove the existing sofa. Did your recliners have removable backs?

We had more problems getting the sofa+ out than the recliners in. The recliners have removable backs, they are the standard Lazy Boy Pinnacle recliner. We used them in our 5th wheel and just moved them to the MH. Very comfortable.

We travel 6 months a year so we need some "office" space and the end table provides that for us.

Wow great job! We have been looking for about a year now and this is our favorite class a ! Love the layout and at an affordable price too. Next year at this time we will be getting one, I will then be able to get at my 401k then for a nice down payment! Can't wait!

Thanks. Yes, the 36Y had the best layout for us also. With our 2 cats we can lock them up in the bedroom/bath when traveling. Everyone is happy.

We have now been traveling for a week and are still making mods. Found the table needed to be stabilized a little, is slide to easy soi we set it to the size we wanted for just the 2 of us(when parked) and put some hook and eyes in to keep it there, no more accidental spills. Just little tweaks here and there, need imagination to solve a few. Watch it with the refrigerator/freezer. When we close the refrigerator the freezer opens(air pressure).

We are encountering a new problem. We have been sitting still for 6 days and our black tank keeps plugging up. The gauge reads that it is empty so probably the sensor fell off, that doesn't bother us. It is plugging up every 2-3 days, no way should it. If we run a hose into it through the toilet the plug is dispersed. We have been rving for 40 years and never had this type of problem.

Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a way we can resolve it?

Sorry

Gosh! How do you manage with only 6" deep kitchen cabinets? Where do you store the plates and bowls??
