Vectra slide curtain

Does anyone know how to restring the pleated curtain that covers interior of the right front slide? Thanks

If you're talking about the Day/Night shades, this 2006-09 Restringing Day Night Blinds - Service Tip may help.

No, I mean the tall vertical pleated shade/cover that covers the front of the slide when it is open and compresses when the slide closes. It just covers the slide mechanicals.

Sorry, I don't have anything like that on any of my slides.

It is behind the passenger seat on the curb side slide. I have one one of those but did not realize that is has strings in it like a blind. I thought it was just an accordion type construction.

Yes, the 40AD has this feature and the curtain has tension strings inside to keep it from looking like an accordion when driving along.

Winnebago has a service bulletin for the restringing. It is a bit of a trick but once you learn how it gets easier. Here is the link: http://www.winnebagoind.com/resource...t%20Blinds.pdf

Is that really string on that, or is it an elastic cord?

I need to work on the pleats themselves (re-starch) to get the folds neat again.

Cleaning and re-starching is addressed in the owners manual. Use a good heavy cord to restring the shades. Elastic will not work. Have you considered replacing them with MCD shades?

That side curtain is different then the windows. It doesn't slide on the strings like the window and this is why I asked if it is using elastic cords. Some how it must extend and retract the line as the slide extends and retract. This means it doesn't work like a window pleated shade.

So I ask again, where does the extra line come from and go to and what is it made of?

Earl,

Finally got back to my 04 Vectra so I could look at my slide cover. I have the KD floorplan so a bit different than yours, but my slideout cover behind the passenger seat is probably the same as yours.

It appears that each end (wall and slide) are fastened to the cover with a metal bracket that runs vertically up the wall and the inside of the slide corner.

The 3 cords on mine are NOT elastic. They are thicker ? nylon ? cords that run through holes at the top, middle, and bottom of the cover.

So it appears the cords are just guides to keep the cover in place and it's the opening and closing of the slide that folds the cover.

As I open and close the slideout the cords maintain their tension, so there must be some sort of winding mechanism, but darned if I could see it.

In my specific parts list, I have a line item for:

Cover - Pleated/Slideout 145181-01-000 that may be the part #, not sure.

I know I didn't fully answer your question, more confirmed what you already knew. I really couldn't see how one gets access to the cords. You might have to check with Winne Customer Support; the blind/bracket/cords might be something that has to be ordered as a complete kit.

For those who keep thinking "window pleated blinds" this is not what we are talking about... I've attached a couple photos.

Sorry for blowing this one. I didn't have this arrangement in my 40FD. I think the factory help line is a good way to go. They are usually great at sending information for such things to you.

Talked to one rep yesterday, his answer-????? Good question, hadn't got that one before!

I didn't ask him to get back to me, I'll worry about it later. Not high on my priority list.

So I need to gain access to the slide mechanism behind this pleated shade (just like Ed's photos above). Does anyone have any suggestions on how this is accomplished? I don't see any fasteners and it doesn't seem to slide an any direction.

Pleated Divider

One side of the pleated divider is screwed into the wood the other is clipped to brackets on the wall. (this might be reversed) Easy to unscrew and remove.

Thanks VectraDon...the screws were hiding behind a pleat that was tucked in tight. Pulled it loose and behold: wood screws! Now I just have to figure out what's next!

Now that you see the magic, how about some photos of how it works!

I actually gained access to the center clip from a ladder on the outside of the rig. Reach through the window and feel for the tab. I broke one when I was learning how to get these things down but still managed to get the shade back up without it. A flashlight and good eyes helps. Patience is another requirement.
