Vectra 04 HWH Slide riser buckled & stuck
Our large slide out is stuck out. Following assistance from other members, we ascertained that the pump, valves and cylinders were all OK.
One side tries to move in the other starts to lift the slide then jambs up.
On investigation I found that the rail that permits the slide to rise up before it retracts is buckled and that is causing a jamb.
Anyone else had this?
I was thinking of putting a trolley jack under the bad end to give some lift to help the slide to return. Any thoughts.
Anyone experience of replacing this item?
I assume it is a HWH part but as I'm in the UK, the six hour time difference limits the availability to talk during daylight hours!!
Any help appreciated

If I am reading your post correctly, I had the same problem a few weeks ago, and did exactly as you proposed, I used my floor jack, and placed two 4x6s on the jack that I had placed on a 4'x2' piece of plywood. We were boondocking out in the desert, and I didnt think the jack would roll very well on the sand and rocks. I placed the jack and blocks directly under where the slide assembly attaches to the outside compartment, and jacked up the slide to clear the floor. I then used the slide control to bring the slide in, and it worked perfectly. The jacked rolled right along on the plywood as the slide came in. We now have an appointment at HWH next week to have a new slide assembly installed.

Bigpeetee,
If you could take pictures and post them here of the damaged area, assuming the buckled part is visible, we might be able to give you some ideas for a temporary fix or workaround.
I have the same mechanism on my 2004 big slide and have worked on it to fix some issues in the past 12 yrs of ownership.
Calling Paul is a good idea, I know he's knowledgeable on the hydraulics and helped me twice, but not sure how much on the big variety of slide arms.
Good luck,
Bill

I closed the slide this morning.
I propose to strip out the metalwork then straighten and have some strengthing angle iron welded to the sides if possible
The parts alone shipped to the UK are in excess of $600 si if I can fix it over here.........
Depends on how bad they are when they're retrieved from under the coach.
Anyone actually taken these out themselves???
Thanks for all the help so far.
At least I can get to our next campsite!!
Pete

Put a trolley jack (jack on wheels) on firm board with wheels facing inward ie in direction of slide travel.
Jacked bad side up and pulled in slide until just binding, then repeated.
Only needed to do this twice then slide on level and just pulled in as normal.
Moving in the morning then I'll have to dismantle bent parts and see if I can straighten and strengthen!!

We had this happen too. HWH could not repair it correctly but they did install the parts, new rail but did not get the right angle. Winnebago finished it and it's all good now. We also had to use wood and a jack to close the slide. We were able to use it but not fully extended. Half way out worked fine for a couple weeks until we got to Winnebago.
