Tour??

After 3 months of researching and test driving, we have made the 2012 Tour the finalist. We love the layout but only test drove it for 5 miles. We would like to hear experiences driving the rig extended distances and issues they needed repaired during the first year. Thanks.

Did you see the location of ALL the batteries and how to access them? What were you told about the use of DEF? Pull some lower drawers out and look underneath with a flash light as workmanship quality. Check the floor for scratches from slide movement.

Are you looking at the 42' with tag? As to the problem of scratching the tire with slide. I recommend these:

Purchased a 2012 Ellipse which is the Tour's sister. Love it. Did 5000 miles so far. PA to Florida for the winter. A breeze to drive. Was a little worried by its size, but does not bother me one bit now. Tow a Buick Enclave. Dont know its back there! Only minor service issues - handled by dealer. Would definately buy again. Good Luck! Maybe see ya on the road.

Have 2011 Ellipse, 42QD. Got it almost exactly 1 year ago, new. First trip was 5K miles, it now has 14K miles. Very comfortable to drive long distances. I won't say rattle free, but it is much quieter than previous coach and interior is well put together. A few minor issues covered by Winnie at factory as we went thru there on first trip then back at dealer here in Oregon. Dinghy is 06 Ford Explorer or 11K pounds of race car trailer, no issues towing either.

As the man said above, would definitely buy it again.

Just finished a 10,000 mile trip to the west coast of Canada and then down south to Mexico over to Florida and back up to Ontario Canada lots of power handles fantastic, we had the alternator go out in Savannah GA, we love the coach and would not hesitate to buy another one

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new rig.

We bought our Ellipse new in 2007. Haven't had any major problems but there is always something on the maintenance list... it's in the shop today getting new slide bearings installed.

We've been very happy with ours.

Best of luck

WE have had our 2010 42AD Tour for about 18 months of fulltime use and driven it about 18,000 miles. We love our coach (this is our second Tour - first was a 2008 40TD), and have had few issues. We did have a slide problem that cracked a tile (it was a bad roller supporting the slide). That was fixed a year ago with no more issues. the 4 house batteries are a bit challenging to check, I have only had to add water twice, so not that big a deal.
Overall, this coach seems very well built, runs great and is very comfortable to live in.

Have a 2010 Tour 42AD. Only minor issues you would expect with a new coach. Some switches interior wired backwards, cracked tile, leaky tag axel seal, couple of loose trim mouldings. Nothing major. We love it and would not hesitate to buy another one.

Have a 2012 Journey the next in line to the Tour, have 6K on it and only minor problems covered by warrenty. Quality of build is great, I find amazing that I have not had any problems with the almost 33 ft slide that carries so much weight.

Good luck with your new coach, should you buy it. We are in the process of buying our very first coach. We take delivery in Oct. Can not wait.

Did you mean "tile" instead of "tire"?

The 2013 Tour/Ellipse's sure look nice. I have a question for the QD owners. Can the bed be put down to sleep in without opening the slides all the way?

Sometimes we like to try to stealth camp and we don't put the slides out on our current Moho. I know it probably would not happen very often, but at some point we may need to sleep in Moho without opening the slides.
