Simple question 2005 Journey

Hello, my husband and I are considering a 2005 Journey 36G. We have pulled a trailer for many years, but this is our first motorhome so we have many questions.

This is a simple one, I hope. When the vehicle is running, do the interior AC outlets work? Can we run a computer from an outlet without the generator running?

Thank you.

If it has an "inverter" then yes. An inverter uses battery power to convert the 12 volts DC from the batteries into 120 Volt AC.

The interior 210V AC outlets should also work when the generator is running.

According to the 2005 Journey Brochure the 36G has a 300 watt inverter as standard (presumably powering only the TV/DVD etc.). The 2000 watt whole-house inverter/charger is optional.

Also, depending on the size of the inverter not all outlets may be connected to the inverter.

We have never had an issue with our computer and inverter but some people prefer only to charge batteries on the their inverters.

We have a 36G and use our computer without the generator running. We do have a 2000 watt inverter/converter. If you run to many things while driving you can run your house batteries down faster than the alternator can recharge. You can recharge them by running the gen from time to time. I only have 3 - 12 volt batteries. If your home has 6 volt you may run longer.

All our outlets work when we have the inverter on going down the road. We run a Dometic
cooler/freezer under in the compartment and draws about 75 watts. You will not be able to run your air conditioner off the inverter. You need the generator running for that.
You can run the micro, fridge and outlets off the inverter. The air just pulls to much a load for a 2000 watt inverter. Like 20-25 amps....
