New Grand Tour 2016

I have never posted on the Winnebago page, as I have been with Newmar since 06. Thinking of getting something new, and am taken by the beauty of the 16 Grand Tour. Can any of you advise me about it, Winnebago service in general (we travel, but live in AZ), and what I might look for prior to a purchase. Also, is 30% off MSRP the goal with Winnebago, as it is with Newmar for a purchase price?

I'll bet you a bbq plate that a check for 34% off MSRP would buy a Winnebago.

This is my experience and I have that info from an inside source.

Thanks for the input. Sure would like to hear from others about service, as well as experience with the Grand Tour.

We have nothing but positive comments to say about the techs at the Winnebago Customer Service facility in Forest City. We have purchased all of our coaches from Lichtsinns in Forest City and have nothing but positive comments about them also. However non of our coaches have been in that class.

I will take that advice, and if I have issues with the new 2016 Grand Tour I purchased yesterday, that cannot be taken care of elsewhere, head to Iowa.

Thanks, I will, and likewise, I will post the positive as well. After having been with Newmar for a while, and experienced the Essex, I have pre-conceived notions after switching brands.

Hi Bob,
Congrats on your new Grand Tour! I have had service done at the factory. My experience has been very positive. The techs took all the time necessary to converse with me and they did good work. They have always been good on the phone with me as well. They are good folks there and they care. I had the same with the good people at Newmar as well, coming from a Newmar gasser to my '14 Ellipse 42QD pusher. Enjoy the new rig!

Best regards,
W.D.

Smitty's is the favorite bbq in Lockhart, Texas if you ever come this way.

And if you just show my wife and I your Grand Tour we'll be happy.

Remember that Winnebago purchased the Country Coach buildings and intellectual property and will start building Winnebago diesel pushers in Junction City. According to my reliable source at Winnebago, they will offer factory service for both Winnebago and Country Coach motorhomes in Junction City, Oregon. They will also service Country Coaches in Forest City, IA.

So, you western US, west coast Winnebago owners will soon have a factory service option.

That's awesome news.

I agree that's awesome, as Oregon is a place we go pretty regularly, but I haven't been through Iowa since 1966 (in my VW Westphalia).

Woo-wee Bob! Winnebago Industries was about the size of an average machine shed in '66. Other than that, not many mind blowing changes have occurred, except Iowa is #1 in wind energy, and the corn rows are straighter due to precision farming. It's a nice place though, the land between two rivers.

Best regards,
W.D.

We stayed, the first night of our 9 week teacher's vacation, at a KOA in Iowa City, and we discovered we forgot pillows (got them in Nebraska the next day). Things have changed, and continue to. Thanks!
