Ive had a ton of questions about my Journey, but I've been able to find the answers in one of the manuals or by doing a search on this website. Questions about the chassis can wait until I get to Camp Freightliner.

One thing that puzzles me is the ladder situation. The ladder ends far from the ground which is a nice feature as it will keep kids and most adults off the roof. However, there is no way to get my large carcass up there with out a supplimental ladder. The Monaco products I looked at had an extension that is stored in the basement, but it hooks on one of the upper rungs so a person could easily access the roof. Was there supposed to be such a ladder in my 2002 Journey or is that something that is special to the Monaco products?

My 2005 Fleetwood had a ladder extension and our new Destination also has an extension.

Hello Paul:

Your Journey came equiped with an extension ladder that hooked onto the permantley mounted ladder you mentioned.

Contact Winnebago customer service and they will tell you how to obtain one from Winnebago.

Hope you enjoy your Journey as much as we do ours.

TEO, J. Dean Bailey is exactly correct. Journeys's came with an extension ladder which would mount to the rear fixed ladder to get ya on the roof.

Congratulations on your Journey purchase. Good chatting with you on the Winnie forum last night.

J. Dean -- welcome to the forum.com. There are a lot of great people on this forum which are very helpful for questions and issues.

Hi Paul,

Check the front, big slide out basement storage bay--stuck against the back wall.

Hi Paul,

If you don't find your ladder extension in any of your bays, email me. I have one available for you (cheap) that I don't need anymore.

I have one of those ladder extensions Winnebago supplied with my coach. It has been hanging in my garage for four years. If I want to get on top of the coach I use the Camping World folding ladder that I bought several years ago. I, like many others, needed a "normal" ladder to attend to things around the coach and the Winnebago extension just takes up storage space.

The ladder and a awning rod make a great temporary clothesline ...

Navy Flier has it 100% correct.

Get a small folding ladder and put it where the extension was supposed to be.

According to the Winnebago Parts and Accessories Catalog, looks like the part number is 130163-04-01A.

NLOVNIT,
If you still have that extension I would like to discuss it with you.
Just bought our Journey (2nd owner) last weekend and it does not have the extension.
If anyone knows where I can get one I'd appreciate.
Thanks

Our OEM ladder extension is stowed neatly in the rafters of my workshop.

It is a single use item that takes up valuable space. Additionally, the "C" shaped castings that clip onto the installed ladder are highly suspect, IMHO, especially for we whose "carcass" draws more water than when we were younger.

We purchased a 6ft, Gorilla brand aluminum ladder that fits the OEM storage location. Allows us to wash windows often, venture onto the roof occasionally.

The ladder brand is not important, its multi-use utility is.

Yeah I know the thread was old but thought I'd get some good advice. And I did. Thanks OldChinahand. Good news! Dealer called yesterday and said the previous owner dropped the extension off and I can come pick it up at my convenience.
At 190 miles, we'll plan to run up on a Saturday in January.

Merry Christmas to all.
