Journey 42E and slide trim

I am having trouble getting my dealer to address an issue with my inside trim. They told me that Winnebago said that this is how it should be. I have included a few pictures and would like to know if others have the same set up with the inside trim. This is the area on the big slide just above the ref. Just need to know if it's made this way (was told this was needed for structural support) or poor workmanship from the factory.

I recommend taking a look @ another coach just like yours or by the same manufacture at the dealer and compare the two

I doubt that's suppose to be structural. Our trim is similar, but doesn't have any large pieces butting up to the small pieces. You may want to call Winnebago yourself of check the parts diagram {usually very detailed} to see if they list two types of trim there.
Good luck and let us know what you find out.

I would send an email with the picture(s) to Winnebago Industries Service Administration: [email protected] , I've had good luck with them. My trim, which I haven't noticed or looked at before, is the same on both sides the full length of the slides. Good idea if you can see a similar motorhome is to compare it to yours.
On our walk thru we were told string lighting was only on one side and Winnebago does some strange things. I found the wiring up above the slide and a loose connection that I reconnected and then we had lighting on both sides. So, it is good to question the dealership if it doesn't look right. They could be right but don't bet on it.

Thanks

Thanks to all who have replied. I was hoping that a Journey owner could look at their coach and let me know how their metal trim is finished on the full slide above the ref. My dealer doesn't have another coach for me to view.

We are like Harv12... Only have the smaller trim, no bigger trim piece meeting it anywhere.

I'd appreciate any insight you could give me about how your full wall slide is finished. I spoke to Troy (from Winnebago) and he said that this is the way it is engineered and that all 42E are made that way.

Blackttr,
Please be patient. My motor home has been delayed two days, so it will be Wednesday before I can respond.

I re-posted a few pictures, if you could send me a picture of your trim I would appreciate it. I would at least have some proof to show to the dealer and to Winnebago.

Blackttr,
I may not be any help. Mine has 16 feet of the larger L-shaped molding and a little over 3 feet of the smaller molding right over the refrigerator. It looks like an easy way for Winnebago to "over lap" the two moldings above the refrigerator. Looks funny but you have to look hard to notice it. I would give Winnebago Customer Relations a call and ask them to help understand the construction process. In the old days the moldings were always a little to long or a little too short. I guess this eliminated the problem? You would have thought they could have matched the sizes a little closer?
I can send you photos if you would like them but they really are the same as yours, except it looks like you have two pieces of the smaller molding??

dengraham,
Thanks for your help. I just think that Winnebago dropped the ball on this one. I agree that there should be a better way to finish this trim. I guess it's back to the drawing board for me.

2012 Journey 42E slide trim

We have a 42E, and I tried to find what your pictures were showing. At first, I couldn't see any of that trim, then noticed it on the inside edge of the bottom of the slide trim. The downsizing of the trim pieces happens, but it's truly invisible unless I'm really looking for it. Can't see it across the room. It doesn't detract at all on our coach. I took a picture for you, but was thrown off when asked for a URL. I don't store my photos online. If you help me figure that one out, I'd be glad to share a photo or two!
