Hitch Receiver Height 2008 39W Destination

I'll wager this question has been asked before, but i sure can't find the right search term, so here goes.

Coach is in the shop. Called and asked what the height from the ground to the receiver hitch was and they reported back that it was 12-1/4 inches.

I'm trying to find out what the height to the center of the receiver hitch is when the air bags are inflated.

I called Winnebago and they did not have the information and suggested that I call Freightliner. Freightliner could only give me the ride height of 10-1/2 inches front, and 10-1/4 inches rear.

Anyone?

Please, just Winnebago owners. Or a consensus of how much your air bags raise your coach from deflated to fully inflated height.

When I hook up my Jeep with the Rv engine running and the Jeep at normal ride height, the tow bar is so close to level that I can't tell the diff.
Have you measured the 2 points?

As stated, Coach in shop and I'm not able to get to it right now. I was hoping someone could tell me. I'll just have to wait until the right time and measure. I have measured the MKX and it was stated and true that the height is 18-1/4" to the center pins on the bumper.

Wow! No one with a Destination. Oh well.

I'll sure find out when I get it back from the shop.

Receiver Height

Aligning the coach receiver and toad "pin" heights is fairly critical and there are variables. I wouldn't want to use dimensions from sources other than those taken from the actual vehicles.

I agree totally, however I was hoping that someone with a 2008 Winnebago Destination was hanging around and that the measurements of the same type motorhome would be withing an inch or so. It was to get an idea.

I'm going to make a trip to the repair place today. fire up the coach, let the air bags inflate to full and then measure the distance myself.

My OP was a request at the time because I could not get to t
he coach.

Still, anyone with a same model RV? I'll post my results some time this evening. Let's see how close we can come to the same measurements. That would be an interesting observation.

ya know, everything I've read says that a 3" or 4" diff is still good. My Jeep is about 1" off and it make no difference at all

Absolutely! The "normal" max is 3", and after that you run the risk in an emergency stop of snowplowing under, or going over, the receiver damaging the tow bar and possibly the coach or TOAD.

Got my measurements today.

As I stated previously, height when air bags are deflated is 12-1/2 inches.
Today I measured with the air bags fully inflated and the height is 15-1/4 inches. So there is a 2-3/4 inch difference with the TOAD being the higher of the two. That is within the guidelines of towing but I'm just a "perfectionist" and I'll most likely get a "drop-up" receiver adapter to raise within 1 inch - give or take a little.

Thanks to all that posted.

Happy trails.

Wayne, just read this post today....after you figured it out. We have the same coach so don't hesitate to ask me in the future if a similar need arises.

Bryan,
If you get a chance doe the measurements. I'm just curious if like coaches are very similar in "design" like the air bags/height control. I'm most sure they are, but?

My 2011 changes height about 2 1/2 inches from air bags deflated to inflated. Is that about what you measured when you were making your measurements. I think we are on the same Freightliner chassis.

Happy Travels,

Happy Travels,
I had 2-3/4" difference.

1/4 inch between rigs is not significant.

Freightliner stated between 3" and 4" so 2-3/4 I would think is within specs. The FL Help line said that it was very dependent on each coach. I was just expecting that the same year and model would have the same dimensions.
