Fuel Filter for 2005 Winnebago 36G with Cat 350 C7

Only had our 2005 Winnebago 36G coach with Cat 350 C7 for a few months but trying to do maintenance as weather permits. Trying to get correct fuel filter(s) and I could not find the information in the manuals. So I called Freightliner and was told it only has one filter with Alliance number ABP-N122-R50418. As I have not been able to verify that I find it hard to believe it only has one. Plus customer service could not tell me the micron reading for it. Can not find the information on-line either. A cross reference to Wix filter shows it’s a 9 micron filter. If only one filter it should be 2 or 3 micron. Does anyone out there have the same coach - year and engine as I and does yours have 1 or 2 filters? Thanks

If you in fact have only one filter, it MUST be 2 micron! If you have two, the secondary filter closest to the engine must be 2 micron and the primary filter/water separator can be either 10 or 30 microns--either is OK.

If you have a secondary filter it will be installed on the engine as can be seen in this picture
(unless it's been relocated by a previous owner, as I did mine: Relocated Fuel Filter & Added Priming Pump).

I would expect a 2005 coach to have 2 filters, but it's possible that the chassis was built early enough that it only has one, as there were a couple of years that they were built that way. You should be able to tell by inspection how many you have, and Freightliner certainly ought to be able to tell you given the last 6 of the VIN.

As shipped from Freightliner the primary filter/water separator would have been an Alliance brand (Freightline's brand) and the secondary, if present, would have been a CAT filter.

Yes I called Freightliner with the last 6 numbers of the Vin and was told it showed only one filter. If it ever stops raining I will be able to check or I may look from the top side.

I have a 2005 meridian I have 2 filters one is in the rear near the grill water separator the other is 2 micron where you show it, just changed my filters the one you show is more accesable from below reaching over the frame I use only cat filters sorry don't have the # handy I fill that filter only 2/3 full because you have to tilt it to get it in from the bottom, to fill that filter through the small holes I use a 1/4" plastic tubing and siphon from a clean container, when I had mine opened I sprayed the engine with gunk engine cleaner and rinsed with hose not pressure warsher

Just went through the Freightliner RV two day class, I have the same engine as you, Cat C7, here is what I found:

1. Has one fuel filter - Cat 1R-0751 2 micron

2. Has one fuel filter/water seperator ABP/N122-R50418 30 micron

I bought these at the FCSC Factory Service Center, took the numbers off the filters sitting on my desk. One was $25 the other $23. The class recommends you should carry each as a spare in your MH incase you have a problem.

By the way, if you really want to learn the chassis equipment for your class A, that class is dynamite.

Yes, Gafney, SC. Most of the folks that attended brought their motor homes and had maintenance done while in class.

Call or go online for the class. Certain times of the year the classes fill up early.

fuel water separator **alternate** part

We used Fleetgaurd filters for our 150 school bus fleet and a good part number for the fuel/water separator is FS19932. They are a good quality filter otherwise known as Cummins Filtration

I us e the CAT 1R0751 2 micron on the engine as their fuel system requires Very! clean fuel for longevity

My 2005 water/fuel is mounted to the rear of the radiator

I had an 2002 Discovery with Cat Engine. Only had one fuel filter. Fuel filter/Water Seperator. It was right at the rear of the coach. Easy to replace and bleed out....

I use the NAPA filters: #1 Primary (water sep) NAPA #3783 and #2 Secondary (final) NAPA #3626.You can prefill the primary but not the secondary. There is a bleed valve (nut) on the line next to the secondary filter. Have your helper start the engine and bleed the air out, it fills up quick.

I believe freightliner call the one on the engine a fuel filter and the one in the back by the radiator a water fuel separater.
