First couple weeks in our new 42 AD Tour

We have spent a couple weeks (we are fulltime rvers) now living in our new, 2010 42AD Tour coach and wanted to give an update on what we like and don't like compared to our 2008 Tour 40TD.

Overall, this coach is simply fantastic! Of course, the extra room is wonderful, but there are many other items we really like including:
  • Excellent cabinetry -- solid wood throughout and great craftsmanship
  • LOVE the new airconditioning! Even in hot Florida(now in the mid 90's), it works great!
  • The Aquahot works great! Never realized how nice it would be.
  • Audio visuals (40" Sony TVs) work great!
  • The stacked washer/dry is wonderful
  • The Ideal Rest king bed is great. We like it even better than the Select Comfort in the old Tour.
  • MCD shade systems are great! Huge improvement over the old Day/Night shades.
  • So far, everything has worked as advertised -- and there are MANY systems on this one.

What don't we like? So far -- NOTHING! I am very impressed with this coach, the engineering and the assembly. We looked at many tag axle coaches and did not find anything to match this. I do think that the new fit and finish of this coach is even better than our old Tour (which did a great job for us). We have had a couple of small issues, but so far, no big concerns.

Anyway, if you are looking for a coach like this, take a close look -- I think you will like it.

I completely agree with your evaluation, we have enjoyed the floorplan immensely. We aren't fulltimers but spend 5 to 7 months a year in the movable condo. We took delivery of our 42AD the end of December and had a number of quality control issues right away. The dealer finally was able to get a handle on everything and we are very happy now.
The only item left to remedy is an ENERGY POLICY from our government!! (obviously another subject)
Travel safe!

We looked at the 2010's ,42 and 40 Tour .very nice coaches . We picked the 2011 Journey 40U .ours has the Ideal rest ,110v fridge and roof ac's
It was a hard choice ,every time I look outside ,I like it better.

I'm still loving mine after about a year full timing . Get the roof checked for soft spots ...mine had to be replaced as did another 42AD I met.

Soft spots??? Was this a manufacturing issue or leakage? This is the first I have heard about this and would appreciate some details on it.

Thanks!

Thanks for the review. We just bought the 42QD and will pick it up in a couple of weeks. We also moved up from a Tour 40TD. The 42QD is like a whole new generation. It's hard to believe that there is only three years difference between them.

Rick,

How do you like the front Kitchen? We toyed with that floorplan before getting our Rev. and were unsure whether we would like it. But I am still intrigued...

So far, we love the front kitchen. Makes the living area into its own room and works well for us. Of course, we were used to this with our 40TD, but the 42AD is much nicer.

Hi Rick
Don't want to panic you.Just check the roof for bubbles (areas where the ply to foam contact has been compromised). You have a 10 year warranty so no biggi but my roof ended up in the disposal bin.

Better not show this post to DW or we'll be trading in our 2007 Tour 40TD!

Do any of you have the over-sized co-pilot seat in your 42QD? I am curious as to how it would affect the passageway from the doorway.

We have the Queen seat and I think it does interfere slightly. However, when we are going in and out loading stuff, we spin it around and fold the back rest. Plenty of room!

Thanks for the response, I didn't realize that the seat back folded down.
