Question Early model Winnebago Journey on the Workhorse RDP chassis check in.

I got the oddball 04 Journey 39K with the Workhorse RDP (R32) chassis with the Cummins ISC 330 engine. How many other owners on the forum has this particular combination. Here is a more specific thread for discussing issues related to this particular build combination. My understanding is that only 16,000 of these units where built before going exclusive to the FCCC with a 350 CAT.

The reason I am interested is that the Winnebago Owners do not specifically discuss this combination and the Workhorse Chassis Forum is centered around the gasser chassis from WH.

The Workhorse Chassis Forum folks, particularly Driver, will be able to get you all the info you need on the R32 chassis.
The Cummins & Allison forums on IRV2 are also a good resource.

phinneyj,
Over a year late in responding, but as a new iRV2 member, I just came across your post. I have an '04 Meridian 39K/Workhorse, most likely identical to your Journey. I need to replace the shocks, but am not able to find any replacements, even after contacting the recommended suppliers like UltraRV, and the past and current owners of Workhorse have been no help other than giving me wrong W part numbers.
Have you had any success or response other than what I see here? It seems that there are very few us of.

Nada for me. I do worry about working on the chassis. I would hope that there are off the shelf parts. Keep in contact. It appears that we have a unique combination. It's just to bad that WCC is out of business... But then so are a lot of companies since the big dip..

Turns out Workhorse has a new life, for what it's worth:
Cincinnati, Ohio, March 4, 2013.

AMP Holding Inc. (OTCBB and OTCQB: AMPD), through a newly formed subsidiary, Amp Trucks, Inc.,
has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the WorkhorseŽ brand, logo, IP, patents, and
assembly plant from Workhorse Custom Chassis, LLC, a wholly owned affiliate of Navistar International
Corporation (NYSE: NAV). The parties expect to close the acquisition on or about March 13, 2013.

I sent an email, but didn't receive a response?? I contacted Navastar, but they reluctant to give any information. I'll keep looking and trying.

Joe: FWIW, IMO, that March 2013 announcement means almost nothing to us WCC owners because AMP has shown absolutely NO interest in producing ANYTHING related to RVs or supporting RV products made by WCC. I hope they will prove me wrong........please let us know IF you get a response from AMP.

I have reached out to the few remaining WCC contacts I have and hope to have some info about your shocks when they return from the holiday break.

JOE & JEFF:
Here is the reply from my contact at WCC:
Front shocks are Arvin / Meritor part # 7805-W-1011
Rear shocks are Arvin / Meritor part # 7805-X-1012
The numbers may show as obsolete, and UTP has none in stock, but hopefully another shock may be found by cross-referencing these old numbers.

If ya'll do find a suitable replacement shock for your chassis, PLEASE post the info so we can share with others.
ED

Congrats Kg4izw
I have a 2004 39K on a Workhorse w/Cummins ISC 330.
I've had mine for 9 + years. Second owner, sold new in April '06.
Chassis is very stable, but you'll want to change the shocks, and that will be a real PITA.
I was not able to find/get replacements and had custom shocks made by Road King. Getting the old rear shocks off was a real problem as they had rusted solid and had to be cut out with a torch. None the less, setting the cost aside, the ride with the RK shocks was worth the cost ($350 x 4 plus old shock removal and new ones installed).
Enjoy your Meridian. It should serve you well.
Joe C.

I am looking for advice on tire pressures because I am about to take my first long trip.
You guys have a coach similar to mine, 2004 Journey/Meridian 39 feet dp with 22.5" Michelin XZA2 Energy tires.
Current tire pressures as I bought it are:
Front 105 and 107.5
Rear 98, 96.6 and 96, 94.5
What tire pressures do you recommend?

There is a placard on the left side wall by the driver seat that shows, among other information, the tire pressure recommended by Winnebago. On my Meridian 39K it shows 110 front, 100 rear. I maintain these pressures, and check the tire pressure before every trip/travel day.
