After leaving the Winnebago factory with good results for our door rattle it has returned. WE think it might be the brackett at the top of the door used to keep it from over-extending beyond 90 degrees. Anyone else have this particular rattle problem? Also, we have a leak somewhere over the door where the tie-back snap is attached? This too was checked and fixed at the factory only to return. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

We had a door rattle in our '02 UA that seemed like the only way to silence it was to wedge something between the screen door and the door frame. WE just put up with this easy fix for a couple of years until this summer when we couldn't find anything handy to wedge in. So Hari (my wife) put a rag over the top corner of the screen door in hopes that it would quiet the rattle. It did. And I finally figured our the problem. We had added snaps around the perimeter of the hard door window so we could snap a sun shade in place as needed. The snap was touching the screen door while traveling causing the rattle. I just used a clear stick-on "dot" to insulate the snap from the screen door. Of course, your mileage may vary.

If its the door itself the old fix was to wrap a couple of turns of electrical tape around the keeper.
Then Winnie came out with kepper that was coated and that took care of my rattle also.

I have the same rattle in my 08 Itasca Ellipse from the same bracket. A tempoary fix is to stick 1/2 inch weather stripping to the bracket to keep it from rattling. Eventually the weatherstripping will wear out and the rattle returns.

The keeper is the little "nob" that is attached to the inside of the door stop -- on the frame of the coach that the lock on the door fastens to when the door is closed. It is usually about 3/8 to 1/2 inch in diameter and sticks out about 1 to 1 1/4 inch. Some people (including me) have wrapped some electrical tape around this keeper and the locking mechanism on the door fastens a little tighter making the rattle go away until the tape wears. Just re-wrap and continue down the road.

Thanks. I will give it a try. We have lived with the rattle in our 2004 Meridian from the start and have learned to ignore it.

If your door still rattles close from the outside and push on it to see if their is slack (rattle).
If so losen the hex on the bar and losen the 2 screws over and under the bar. Slide the bar towards the drivers seat. Tighten and re[eat till their is no slack (rattle) when door is shut.
