Our new Adventurer has a very secure lock on both the microwave and the freezer. And the fridge doors have never opened under way.

when we took delivery of our 2016 Suncruiser 38Q we found that the convection/microwave door would not solidly latch closed. dealer swapped out the unit but the problem persisted. while we were waiting for a solution from the factory we used bungees to keep it closed. a few weeks later the oven mfg came up with a new design latch that worked. you might check with the oven mfg.

the larger issue is why this wasn't caught at the factory when the unit rolled off the assembly line; during transport or certainly during the PDI at the dealer. this was just the beginning of our troubles with our new but now out of warranty 38Q...21 different issues in all during the first 15-months of ownership and about 7-months of actual use. some issues were major like the front street side slide not extending and three different water leaks in the same place and some not so much like one of the footstools on the couch falling apart but all were troublesome.

I finally wrote a 12-page letter to Winnebago Industries listing in great detail all of the issues we've experienced and sent it to the chairman, CEO and three VP's. the upshot was that Winnie picked up about 20% of the repairs but virtually all of them can be traced back to a lack of proper quality control and/or poorly engineered parts (Schwintek/Lippert) both of which are Winnie's responsibility to catch before the RV rolls onto the dealer's lot. to their credit our dealer's service dept. has generally been great.

as for securing the resi fridge...the swivel "lock" on the freezer works well and both of the main doors are secured with the same sort of heavy duty drawer/cabinet latch. we've never had a door pop open on us.

Our microwave has that same cabinet/drawer latch like your photo shows.

Not trying to over do this -but just want to clarify a few things on late model 38Q's. The 38Q fridge MAY have 2 unique problems that you may wish to check.

First is the doors may sometimes pop open while underway on the fridge if extra locking mechanisms are not added. We added an aftermarket device that works well to keep them secure.

The more dangerous fridge issue is that the strap designed to secure the entire fridge to the wall, on some units may not have been installed properly allowing the ENTIRE refrigerator to fall out of its slot and across the kitchen causing damage to the kitchen microwave area and the fridge. In my case this happened while making a 90 degree left turn in the vehicle. If while under construction the strap used to secure the fridge to its top hinges was not properly bolted into a wall frame member behind the fridge the fridge could easily tip over and out of its slot. Its worth a good tug on the front of the fridge to make sure its in there tight.

When we visited the factory in Forest City this past summer for several issues, one of which was the microwave door opening while in transit, the techs installed a new latch underneath the door of the existing microwave. They advised later units (2017+ ?) had this newer latch system so they added the additional latch device to make ours secure. Sounds like that was pretty common issue.
