2014 Sunstar 35F travel Report

OK just finished a 6200 mile trip across The Great USA from the West Coast.
The coach handled fine except for the wind pushing me around when I was passed by trucks. I took the I80 route East and the I40 route West.
I used 875 gallons of fuel, average price was $2.99gal at 7.11Mpg.
So I have to ask how others are doing on MPG's in their coach? I do have a 5 Star Tune and did run close to 70Mph a lot of the time. I was also towing my toad.

Our is on a Ford F53 26,000lb chassis with similar size MH. We have put around 8,000 miles on it so far. We have not had to add anything as it drive great, tracks well, and we do not get pushed around by the big rigs.

So far our gas mileage has averaged about 8mpg, our lowest has been 6.5mpg when covering an area with alot of 6% grades, our best has been 10mpg on a long flat road with a little tailwind. We can pretty much count on an overall 8mpg at each fill up. We do drive a bit slower though, I have found my best gas mileage to get is in the 60-65mph area and it goes down from there.

2014 Sunstar 35F travel Report

Our 2013 Sunstar 35F gets a steady 7.5 mpg with the toad. We have accumulated 11,000 + miles with a stock setup. One thing I would NEVER do, and I am a certified former RV driving instructor, is to drive faster than 62 mph with a toad.

Our Sunstar has a Steer Safe steering stabilizer so most of front end wander is gone.

Glad to hear the inputs, my best MPG's was when leaving Las Vegas after a complete wash and wax and driving at ~ 58mph. I got 8.11 mpgs. during that stretch with the cruise control set.
The 5 Star tune helps with power a lot. I have not seen any gain in mpg's but I also did not take any long trips with the MH prior to installing the tune.
I also run the Potable Water tank full of water, just for the ballast.

We run the water tank full for the same reason, it just seems to ride better. And also due to the drought some campgrounds in Ca shut off the water supply at individual campsites. People think I'm crazy carrying the extra weight, but I think It rides better, we still get the same gas mileage, and I never have to worry about water.

I usually travel with 3/4 water, drive no faster that 65, and can count on 7.5 and towing most of the time.
It really is great to see gas at or under $3.00. The "push from trucks" can be reduced by the addition of a rear track bar, fwiw.
