2003 Winnebago Journey Dl 39WD - Washer/Dryer Area & Ventilation

Hello everyone,

I purchased this coach right before the fall, and the washer/dryer combo didn't work so we pulled it.

We left it like it is in the pictures since, and just left the doors closed.

We were traveling the last couple of weeks, and had noticed large amounts of warm area freely coming through the door.

As you'll see in the pictures, if you look behind the area where the combo used to be, there is sunlight coming in. It's from the wet bay, verified by running the and obviously closing the wet bay door removes the sunlight, but it doesn't stop the warm air from passing through.

I'm closing off the are so it's not open, but all of that air is still going to be trapped behind that wall.

Questions:

1. Is this how it is by design? Just seems weird that of all the areas you would have air moving like this, you would have the wet bay.

2. If anyone else has come across this, what was your fix? My original thought was to just approach the whole thing by closing off access from the wet bay, rather than trying to stop everything from above it, but I'm finding the screws holding the metal panel to be impossible to remove, and I don't have my drill-out bit with me or my reciprocating saw to remove the screws, so until I get back home where all my tools are, the best I came up with was to have a big box home improvement store cut the wood for me to the size I need, and staple some scraps of the aluminum bubble wrap insulation I have to the back or whatever it's called.
