Found 2002 Winnebago Sightseer 30 foot with workhorse and standard auto transmission.
12K miles. Very clean. Basic with few options. What do you folks think? Thanks so much.

What is the asking price? Do you know what it sold for or what it's MSRP was when new? What size is its generator and inverter?

Ah ha! Looking at some class A's, eh?

Careful, we started looking at Sightseer 30B's and ended up with a brand new Adventurer.

There was just a 33L 2002 Sightseer for sale local to me (Michigan) a couple weeks ago. It had a trade in value of just over $40K. Owner was being transferred out of the country, had to sell it. Couldn't find a buyer. It had only 6000 miles, would have made a great buy for someone.

Anyway, the Workhorse chassis on a 2002 30B will be a P32 chassis. Not that that is bad, just know it isn't the W series that everyone talks about.

I tell folks if Sightseers had driver's doors, we'd have one today. Old Winnebago literature is at their website. It can be real handy to see what changed year by year. But in the case of the Sightseer, they've been pretty stable.

Asking price was 47K I offered 39K. 72K new. 4K generator. I dont know the K's of the inverter.
Looks liked I had "Special K" for breakfast. LOL

If it's a P32, keep looking. 4K generator will trip a breaker if you try to microwave while the air is on etc. Then you have the "Motor Aid" that is poorly assembled and will seize and cost you big bucks. I bought an Itasca Sunrise on P32 and CERTAINLY learned a lesson.

Sorry I left out comments about Workhorse. I was a Ford fan for many years...but I am a Workhorse fan now. Had a Banks system on the Itasca...The only great thing about that coach.

Jeff Haltom:

We have the MotorAid in our '04 Sightseer.

Would you please amplify the problems with the MotorAid? What might we expect? What seized, etc.

Thanks,

Jeff:

I (ahem) did a search after the above post and saw your comments.

Don't reply unless you really want to.

Thanks again

We have a 2005 Sightseer 30B, and love it. There are a bunch of Sightseer owners on this board that love theirs. This is a great unit for the price. We tow a car with it where we live (in the mountains of CO) and it pulls strong. Absolutly no problems with the chassis (Workhorse P-32)

We have had no problems with "breakers tripping when running the generator" as the above poster had. Also the motoraid works GREAT...no problems (first I have ever heard of a motoraid problem).

We also tow our ATV's into places where others wont even try to go....these things can turn on a dime, and we havent had any handling problems. Easy to winterize....empty the tanks, and blow out the lines with air...no pink stuff.

We have had a 2004 35N Sightseer for the last two years and have loved it. We are trading it in in a few weeks for a 38J. Have not had any trouble with the unit. It has been a great entry level coach. For anyone wanting to try out RVing, I would recommend the Sightseer (with a workhorse chassis of course).

Update on the Sightseer, I bought a different Sightseer than I was asking about. I bought a 2004 30B Sightseer with the Ford Chassis. This one had all the goodies already on it and low miles. Thanks for all the comments. Hope I did the right thing! FlashG

Congrats and enjoy!

Our Adventurer is a 2004, on the Ford chassis, very similar.

When we test drove the 30B we ending up buying the salesman, the DW and myself noticed a vibration at around 35 MPH. We all thought maybe the coach needed the tires re-balance. The steering wheel was also at 45 degrees but did not pull left or right. The rig is at the dealers now having the alignment and tires balanced. The coach also needed detailing and a new left rear bumper plastic and the left rear compartment door repaired (previous owner mishap) Anybody else have this vibration problem? Maybe it was just the road we were on?

I don't think motorhome tires are balanced. At least they were not on my last two coaches.

I agree with FrontRangeRVer. I have a 2003, 32V Brave on the P32 Chassis. I tow a PT Cruiser. Took the rig and car to Alaska this year, and, all together, we've put 34K since May, 2003. Only problem that we've had are two bolts on the front stabilizer bar have snapped. We replaced these on the road, and we snapped two front shock mounts. All of that happened over the three years that we've had it, not just on the Alaska trip. We are not overloaded. The MotorAid works perfectly, and we have run both rooftop heat pumps, the TV, and the microwave on the 4K generator without tripping anything. The energy monitor works well when necessary.

Overall, I'm happy with the P32. Trucks don't bother me when passing. I get some buffeting when I'm following a truck, but nothing that can't be easily managed.

Good Luck.

Have a 2004 30B bought new with 12,000 miles on it now. Three problems: 1. Hard cranking when new. Trip to Workhorse. Loose starter connections they said. No more problem. 2. Stuck AutoPark. Workhorse replaced it. No more problem. 3. Slideout wouldn't fully retract just this last weekend. Use the semi-automatic mode to get it in. Have appointment with dealer. Otherwise love it, great unit for the money.
