Cheeze-wizz and hope
I have come to the conclusion that the bulk of rv's are assembled with cheeze-wizz and hope. They hope the cheeze-wizz doesn't let go before the warranty expires. The only way I have made it through ownership of my '02 Sightseer is because of the mechanical experience I have from maintaining a fleet of vehicles. It really doesn't seem to matter what brand or list price. Until the people that run and try to enjoy the fun that can be had in an rv demand better, this seems to be what we have. People who live in an area that is more rv friendly-I'm in Taxachusetts-seem to have a better pool of repair services available. The first purpose built rv facility in the area has gone under. Gary

They're designed and engineered by some very talented people, then assembled by $10.00 per hour employees that couldn't care less about quality.

And those $10 per hour guys are supervised by a quality control team consisting of Larry, Curly and Moe.

It's really a shame that the only way out of a problem vehicle is to take the lose and trade it off where some poor unsuspecting buyer will think he's getting a bargun used vehicle that the prior owner had already worked out all the problems. Too many used vehicles, cars and pickups too, are just buying someone else's problems.
And this just encourages the manufacturers to keep doing the same knowing they'll sell more new ones to replace the prior crappy ones they didn't stand behind and fix right.

The problems may not even have been Winnebagos, the op purchased a lightly used 1 yr old MH, the original owner may have been the one to have caused the problems. The problems may not have been all that serious.
Sure wish the OP would post back with what he;s found out to be wrong with it.

Not enough detail in the Ops story for me to judge against dealer or manufacturer.

Just remember this when ranting at your dealer, service centeror with Winnebago--you catch more bees with honey than with vinegar.
I'm on my third Winnebago and they have all performed very well. Every manufacturer builds a bad one now and then. Good luck.

Alan, we purchased a new 2008 Vectra in Jan 2010 that had sat on the dealers lot and had not been maintained. We've also experienced poor service at several Winnebago dealers and have been to the factory twice for repairs. I believe the the "Achilles heel" for the RV industry as a whole is substandard dealer support--the manufacturers must take action to fix this problem. We have received outstanding support from the folks in Forest City.
