DIP switches (dual in-line package) were designed to have the same pin spacing as integrated circuits (chips.)

Some DIP switches have slide switches and some have little levers that pivot. Manufacturers might even change the style of switch in a production run.

I have worked on equipment where we didn't have the convenience of an actual switch - we had to cut wire jumpers (maybe eight of them) to set an option in some old electronic equipment. If you made a mistake, out came the soldering iron

John,

Yor forgot another delightful method, wire-wrapping. I still have a wire-wrap tool from my early computer days.

Before I bite the bullet on a replacement charger/inverter I was wondering about Winnebagos placement of the remote temperature sensor. According to the Dimensions manual they say the probe should be connected to the negative post on the battery. I don't see anything that looks like a temperature anywhere near the batteries.

Does anyone have temperature probes connected to the negative post or anywhere near the batteries on their rigs?

Yes, there is a small round gray wire running from the Dimensions unit to the battery. The battery end just looks like a big terminal for a much larger wire (presumably there is a thermocouple or somesuch inside it). It's on the negative terminal of the innermost coach battery.

Thanks Chris,

I think that might be my problem. I traced the sensor probe cable from the inverter/charger and it disappears right about where the breaker panel is under the bed. I have looked at my battery compartment, with the batteries removed, and the other end of the cable with the sensor is nowhere to be found.
