Two Door Switches - 1 for steps; what other?

I have two door switches mounted on the hinge side of the door. One controls the steps. The other is wired with a light gauge wire and disappears up into the coach, purpose unknown. I can't find it in the wiring diagram (but I'm not an engineer).

Any ideas?

The wire should be labelled every few inches. You can look up the labels here: Wiring Identification Guide

If not the step light, could it be the battery disconnect switch? Check your operator manual. If you don't have one, you can download it here:

Thanks for the suggestions.
The switch isn't shown in the wiring diagrams. Wire is very light gauge and not marked with wire tags. It disappears into the coach structure, not into a wiring harness or loom (sp?). Most likely a aftermarket item. I'm going to do some continuity tests to see when it is active.

pictures don't show much, most of the wiring is hidden.

So this is a switch that activates when the door is closed, correct?

Yes, one switch works with the steps as it should. I'm planning to trace the wiring of the other switch or use a process of elimination to see what comes on or off, next weekend.

Yes, if it matches the switch for the steps its usually the outside porch light however on the hinge side that is less likely.

What type of switch are we talking about, magnetic, toggle, etc? Does it match the other light switches in the coach or is it a more generic home center/automotive switch?

Maybe an aftermarket alarm system?

Wires for door steps.

On ours Class A the wires for the steps, when you open the door the steps come out and there should be a light that comes on under the steps.
