Yes, I changed out our Sony for a Sony LCD. The original was OK but I wanted to reduce the weight in the curb slideout.

Pete,
I have a 40AD as well and would like to change out the TV for a LCD. Did you find a LCD TV that fit the original opening?

I would like to see photos. My 2005 38R has the same 27" Sony TV and location as your 2005 Horizon.

That is on my list as well. I have actually had my TV unbolted and loose so I could get to the wiring in the back. Taking it all the way out is no big deal (other than dealing with the weight when it's out.)
When I do the change out, some cabinet work will be required. I will build a roll out drawer that will take up the space under the new flat-panel. I'm lucky because I have a pretty well equipped wood shop to do that myself.

Since I have just bought my 07 Suncruiser can you guy's tell me if the TV's are digital? They're not flat screens but are the newer type so I assume that they are and won't need to be traded out.

I am thinking that your TV's aren't digital, unless you have channel designations ie. 10, 10.1, 10.2 etc.
You will need the converter box to go between your antenna and selector box if they arent digital.....or if you use satelite, they will work without a converter.

There are indeed going to be alot of us changing out TV's in the near future. It is just one more thing I have been putting off that I must get to soon. Hope I can find a TV that fits well and will not require much cabinet rework.

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I have been away. The Sony Model KDL-32SL130 was a perfect fit and I got a 32" screen!!
I would post pictures but I don't know how. I will try a figure it out and send some. The install was easy and uneventful.

It appears that I do not have permission to post pictures. How do I get approval?
Thanks,
Pete

I replaced the 27" stock TV in our Tour (KD floorplan) with a 40" Samsung LCD TV. Like John said, it did require a little cabinet rework (new surround for the TV and resizing the storage areas and doors) but it wasn't hard. I do have before and after pictures if anyone is interested.

Carnies,
Was the 40" Samsung wider than the Sony 27"?
Yes, I would like to see the photos.

LK23, yes the Samsung was wider by about 4" if I remember correctly. That's why I had to resize the cabinet openings on either side of the TV.
I will post the photos as soon as I can get to the picture card that has them on it...the Tour is in the dealer for work until Friday and then I will get the pictures posted.

A Sharp 27 inch LCD fits in just fine without any mods, although John C. has the right idea to put it on a pull out tray. When you make yours, JC, can you make a second and ship it to CA?
The Sharp leaves several inches on each side and above exposed, so if you're fussy about the cabinetry and the look, you'll likely want to frame it in. When traveling we just move it to the back of the cabinet, cover it and put something in front of it to eliminate tip overs. A full case of wine works just fine!
