Trulevel Guage Monitor - All Lights Glow

We have a 2009 Suncruiser. Just this past year we've had a problem with the tank level monitor. When we press one of the buttons to see a specific tank level, all, or most of the lights glow on the monitor making it unreliable. Has anyone else had any similar problems?

Most of us, if not all of us HAVE this problem at one time or another. You can do a SEARCH and find all kinds of remedies, but most do not work for the long haul.

Thank you doit2010. Are you talking about stuff getting caught on the sensors in the tanks? Our sensors are on the outside of the tanks. We think this is a circuit board problem in the guage monitor.

How the system works:
The three TrueLevel sensors on the side of each tank are active (integrated circuit) devices in series. As the liquid level rises and each sensor "closes" it causes a change in a voltage on the control board.
The control board uses LM339 Low Power Low Offset Voltage Quad Comparator ICs to sense the voltage change and activate the appropriate LED. There is no adjustment for this. There is an adjustment for the propane which still uses the old style potentiometer sensor.

If the tank walls get enough crud coated on them the sensors will be fooled and close even when the liquid level is low since the crud contains some water.
That may be causing your problem, if so cleaning the tank walls can help.

See my reply on RVnet. You may have a fluorescent light issue.

Clay L, Thank you for your help but we don't think it's crud. Almost all the lights glow, including the propane guage, when any one button is pushed on the monitor. Currently the fresh water guage light seems to be working, showing 1/3 tank, but all the other lights glow when any one button is pushed.

I dump all tanks every 4 or 5 days. The guages mean nothing

'Bago never isolated their circuits properly in this area. If you turn off the switch that controls the 120 VAC to the hot H2O tank you will see a change in the lights, assuming the tank is heating. The red switch that controls the 120 VAC to the hot H2O tank is a 12 VDC switch. Ours has been that way since day 1.

NoMoreAZ, Actually the 110 water heater switch is now removed from the wiring and the guages are still all wacky. The water heater switch failed last weekend so it is on the work bench now and we just read the post on how to fix it. It's out of the loop and our monitor lights are still (mostly all) glowing when we press any one button. Thank you for the help.

We called Winnebago Tech Support and got the part number for a new circuit board. There's a Camping World near our house so we ordered it today. Thank you everyone.
